Surprise! Bush to begin carpet bombing North Korea!
Having threatened NK with retaliation if they tested a nuclear bomb, knowing that Kim Jong Il would have to respond to prove he could not be pushed around, Bush got his wish, a nuclear test by NK.

Having coaxed the United Nations into passing a weak resolution condemning NK for this and imposing sanctions, will Bush figure that he has enough justification to begin the bombing now?

With the election only three weeks away and indications that the Democrats will likely take control of Congress, will bombing NK in a new "Shock and Awe" campaign rally the Republican base? There are still a lot of "good old boys" out there who would love this.

What better way to deal with NK's starving population than to bomb them off the face of the Earth? Could this be Karl's October surprise? I have an uneasy feeling it might just be this scenario.

China and Russia had some provision in the UN resolution that there can not be any military action against North Korea.

How many ships do we have that can make N. Korea by now? However, we do have missiles and so does Kim. You know Bush doesn't care because he's too far away back east. So I guess we on the west coast get to be sitting ducks. He never really liked Arnold anyway.

14. Bush will say we have to take NK out now,
before they develop reliable missiles to deliver their warheads to our shores. Remember that their missile test a few months ago failed. Bush will use this to sell the new war to the American people.

13. Shock and Awe? Oh yeah but it is we who are in for a shock.
The peninsula will explode in war. No fictionalized North Korean
sects to begin internecine battles. If OBL had a plan to watch
the United States spend and bleed itself into a stupor then
a war with Korea would be his dream come true.

it Bush doesn't bomb NK. I'm sure his ego is horribly bruised right now and we all know what he does when that happens.

They are planning on attacking the infrastructure and
military capabilities of Iran.
We are on the brink of WW3.

31. The "axis of evil", Iraq, Iran and North Korea, said Bush.
You may be right that the war mongers will attack Iran's infrastructure first. However I suspect that they will bomb both countries.

30. That's ridiculous, frankly. If something starts this month
it will be North Korea's doing.

There is no authority for Bush to go to war with North Korea, and it would not be granted by Congress in October if it was asked for.

33. Bush does as he pleases.
Congress is currently in recess until after the elections next month. Bush has not bothered going through the courts to obtain permission to wiretap people. He uses signing statements to negate provisions of new laws that he does not like. So what makes you think he would wait for Congress to approve of whatever actions he chooses to take?

he would have to go to Congress, no?

39. he is commander-in-chief
he can order an attack, just as clinton ordered the tomahawk attack on bin laden

clinton got sufficient certifications from cia/fbi to make it legal. bush doesn't bother with such niceties. he'd say "its legal if I do it" and his wacko atty general would support him.
they'd use some clause somewhere about clear and present danger, or hot pursuit or something.

if he tried to order a major offensive, he'd be bound by the War Powers Act, I think, and be obliged to get congress ok, but all he has to do is say "it's urgent" and he's probably weithin his rights to act and ask for ok later. the idea at some point was that the pres would be responsible, and it was safe to make him commander-in-chief.

that notion is more "quaint" then the Geneva Convention

42. No. He will NOT risk neither Iran or N.K. retaliations on U.S. troops
before Nov. 7.

As of October, 2006, there were around 141,000 Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps personnel in West, North and Central Iraq. (Wikipedia)

United States Armed Forces stationed in South Korea. There are about 30,000 U.S. troops stationed on the Korean Peninsula. (Wikipedia)

Everybody (except the idiot bushbots) thinks he doesn't care at all for them, and he knows what "we think" (even if he lies about not "listening" to the polls...) and he doesn't want to "prove us right" (again) BEFORE Nov. 7.

From Nov. 8, though (I am very scared) you may be right because he really never cared about their safety, nor their lives: it's only about his "image" and "his way or the highway".

:scared:
