It's Pretty Much Over
People on DU are a constantly optimistic bunch. We gather to post and read, and always hope that there will be a bright outcome. But there never is one. We call, fax, e-mail, for days on end, in the hopes it will have an impact. It NEVER does. We say that our vote matters, and that it is up to us to turnout and have an impact....but our votes are meaningless and occasionally not even counted.

Yet, we come here and say...."Don't worry, we have to be ready for the next battle." Which undoubtebly we'll lose again. The government is not on our side, the media is not on our side, even our democratic leaders are not on our side, except to the extent they rely on our contributions and votes, then perhaps they might take notice....although they're pretty helpless against the repub wall which never bends and NEVER breaks. The Dems couldn't agree on what sandwich to order for lunch, while the repubs could match all their orders down to the last condiment.

People think I'm nuts when I say this, and even those who agree, think that the tide will turn....it always does they say. Well, what if it doesn't? Then what? Will we be sitting here posting in '09, saying that it's important to remain focussed, and important to continue fighting?

My thinking is that it's time to leave the country, at least those who have the means. Either that, or just accept that even if you're in the majority opinion, you are still in the minority, and will NEVER realize true victory. That is for your leaders to attain, and the repubs are not going to abdicate control of their throne.

1. It Never Stops Being Important. The Fight Never Ends, And We Will Never
give up. It matters not how many battles we lose, for until the battle is won we must always continue to fight in spite of the challenges and odds. We fight until we win, and even after that we must be vigilant in our focus to ensure we do not allow these things to come again.

We know how tough it is, and we are also well aware that there are many more losses ahead of us. But that is to be expected when there is a battle this monumental with odds this steep. The only way to win it is to never give up, solidify our resolve, and keep pushing in the face of adversity at all costs at all times.

Someday we will have our victory. How many losses that occur inbetween is irrelevant to those whose primary purpose it is to fight until victory.
