Walk-On Photo Op Forget Me Not - 15 Oct 06
:
.
§___

15 October 2006

shrub and wife walk on the flag of USA to celebrate his administration's complete failures to do his duty to protect the people on September 11, 2001. It boggles the mind shrub and Co could have come up with this photo opportunity in the first place. To use the flag and step on it!

Now tell me again ... "What is your position on the flag? (I mean besides a door mat and a sales tool.)"

"Trust me. I know where I am going with this."

"Respect the flag. It really is a useful tool. ...."

I am not anti-bush. I am for America!

"This Administration, for all its talk of strength, has made us less safe, and its proposal before us today is one that smacks of weakness and fear. Its legislative demands reflect a cowering country that is succumbing to the threat of terrorism. I believe that we are better than that. I believe that we are stronger than that. I believe that we are fairer than that. I believe that America should be a leader in the fight for human rights and the rule of law. "

Senator Patrick Leahy of Vermont

1. That's disgusting
That great big sidewalk, and he has to deliberately step on the flag.

And who thought it was a good idea to paint it on the sidewalk anyway?

Now, if it was the constitution he was stomping on, that would make sense.

3. I recall when those pic's first came out, and I printed them to show
some of the R's in my area just how much respect for the Flag bush really has, they were appalled, as am I.

Who in their right mind would even contemplate making a door mat out of the Flag?

"Just wipe youor feet before you come in, just to make sure you don't have any dog crap on your shoes".

4. One of my earliest memories of my
father was our leaving a restaurant in Springfield Illinois because they served our family ice cream sundaes with tiny paper flags in them. As it was very warm and we were on a 16 hour car ride to see Grandma, it was tough for 5 kids to walk away from ice cream!

He also didn't like to see flags on article of clothing. He was a vet from WW2 and there was no discussion allowed on this topic - or none that us kids would venture to broach! I learned early on that the flag represented the lives of millions of people who fought and died for our freedom, for our country.

As an adult, I have a bit modified view of use of the flag. Tiny flags on ice cream wouldn't send me from a restaurant but I do question motives when I see people drape the flag on anything other than a flagpole. But I will tell you, every time I see the flag, I think of my father! Very much miss that man.
