Stop Mitch McConnell and stop the corrupt money machine:
If you want to find the one person who has made Washington the corrupt money machine it is today it is Mitch McConnell. He is the one person who has stood in the way of meaningful campaign and lobbying reform.

http://www.kentucky.com/mld/kentucky/15763570.htm

"He's completely dogged in his pursuit of money. That's his great love, above everything else," said Marshall Whitman, who watched McConnell as an aide to Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and as a Christian Coalition lobbyist.

A leader in the field of tapping the wealthy for campaign cash, McConnell also led the opposition against efforts to rein in such donations through campaign-finance reform -- a fight that has taken him to the U.S. Supreme Court and put him toe-to-toe against another emerging Republican leader, presidential hopeful McCain.

A six-month examination of McConnell's career, based on thousands of documents and scores of interviews, shows the nexus between his actions and his donors' agendas. He pushes the government to help cigarette makers, Las Vegas casinos, the pharmaceutical industry, credit card lenders, coal mine owners and others.

He is a no compromise, hard line asshole. If he gains control of the Senate, he will turn that body into something worse than the house under hastert and delay.

1. Thanks for the recommendation. Please keep this
kicked, because McConnell could be a campaign issue in those close senate races.

2. If he gains control of the Senate,
Umm don't Republicans already have control of the Senate?

3. yes, but with the cat-torturer retiring...
McConnell would be one of more likely choices for majority leader/president pro tem.

That's a scary thought, though arguably no worse than Delay.

4. He's taking over Frist's position. He makes Frist look like
a boy scout. Frist is an authoritarian. Mitch is also an authoritarian but he is obsessed with money and the power he can gain from manipulating the money. He is the big stumbling block in the way of reforming Washington.

5. Amen, Alfredo, McConnell is actually the worst of the worst
He is more concerned over money and power than anything else. He ushered in the truly evil campaigning (not just smearing, or mean-spirited, but evil) when he went after Dee Huddleston to first get elected. There is nothing too low, too sleazy, too mean, too undemocratic for Mitchy to sink to just to get and keep his seat. He needs to be neutered and never, ever given the chance to be leader of anything - not even a Boy Scout troop - so we can start fumigating DC. He could actually make Frist look good - something most people think impossible.

McConnell, and his Bobble Head Wife Elaine, will be up for re-election in '08 - I say send them home. Until then we need to focus on Northup and Lewis in the House of Representatives - they are just clones of Mitchy, there to do his bidding. Neither one has ever had an independent thought just another member of the repug mind meld.

6. Amen to focus on Northup and Lewis, who are using the ugly

and distorted McConnell techniques right now. IMO, we need to weaken McConnell's KY base; Repubs in D.C. will notice.

7. Here in Lexington we have local issues and candidates that
have been keeping us busy. I am working to elect Chris Frost in the 88th LD. We had a great Change For Kentucky day for Chris yesterday. I am exhausted, but very pleased with the turnout. I wish I could be in Louisville to work to put Ann back into the private sector. I also would love to see Amy Shirr elected. I'm just too involved in Lexington Politics.

We have a very important ballot issue, local control of our water utility. Right now a German conglomerate RWE owns it, and they have it on the market. Qatar and China have shown interest in buying RWE's water works. We want to buy, but RWE doesn't want to sell to us. That's an insult to us. Why is a country with ties to Hamas and al Qaeda more acceptable to RWE than the people of Lexington Ky?

But I cannot forget that we are part of something bigger, and that if we don't fight against the corporatist and Authoritarian Right we could lose what's left of our freedoms.

13. Frist Is Retiring
I'm not sure, but I think Nichols is the #2 in the leadership, but no matter what I see a leadership fight to replace Frist and Moneybags McCcnnell is right in position to take charge. I see him a greater threat than Lott retaking his old job. Either way, more the reason to work hard to win the 6 seats needed to make these slimebags back benchers.

Poppy Bush when they were trying to use procedural moves to block Kerry's BCCI investigation.

McConnell would even take to the senate floor and mock Kerry as if he were delusional, and would do it in the press, as well.

Now - WHO was actually supporting and protecting the global terror networks Kerry was working to expose? Poppy Bush, his administration, and Mitch McConnell.

damage he causes in his pursuit.

10. The point that he protected terrorist banking network would be a good LTTE
for Kentuckians who are unfamiliar with his role then. There would have BEEN NO 9-11 if Bush1 and his hitman McConnell hadn't worked overtime to block the investigation and the senate's investigators at every turn.

12. BCCI ! How the hell did I let that slip my mind?!?
Damn, there is just so much crap to shovel through. That needs to be resurrected and used against them in a "class action " campaign ad. Damn, there are so many ways to condemn them...

And you're right. That is a big part of the REAL "path to 9/11" that has been tidily hidden in the closet.
