I do wonder why Americans are not marching in the streets to protest the torture and the war crimes and the loss of their freedom. I don't mean little marches but massive protests everywhere. I would be mortified if my country's foreign policy was so blatantly murderous and so obviously NOT for any ethical reasons whatever. I mean mortified enough to get up and march. Mind you, as a Canadian I ain't happy about Harper and Afghanistan but .....
Also --- I never understood why you let Bush and his buddies off the hook for 9/11 when it was so obvious that it was criminal negligence or worse. If that had happened here heads would have rolled you can bank on it.

Yes, they hate monkeyboy, but they also see us (the american people) as the ones who voted him into power twice(yes, I know we didn't, but they don't) "and" that we must be OK with all this torture and preemptive war and killing of innocent people and occupation of a sovereign country, otherwise we would be marching in the streets, demanding his resignation.
I do believe they hate "him" and "us". That is, however, just my opinion. I don't have any empirical data to back it up.

America looks pretty tarnished and I think people worldwide are beginning to question the American culture and technology -- given the harm to the environment and the ugliness and vulgarity of some aspects of the coca cola consumer culture. I think many people see America in an entirely different way. What is you real history --- as opposed to the fairytale? Not a pretty tale from the beginning. I have never understood why it was called a beacon of freedom to the world when so many little countries have been enjoying greater freedom all along. Not the most tolerant country to live in if you ask me. You have always had to pretty well watch what you said south of the border. Not the most enlightened country either. How many Americans think Canada is a "socialist" country? Even "commie". Wish it were. And you have been propagandized into believing socialism is a bad thing. You will never get "free" health care. The corporations keep the average American thinking socialism is evil, dangerous, and disasterous. Stephen Colbert points out that even the Democrats are far to the right of Nixon. Scary country you live in.I don't think you will be out of trouble if the Democrats take over. Too much damagre and too many of them are owned by the corporations. However, I am not with Nader and Chomsky. There is a BIG difference between the parties at the present time.
