6. Nashville is pretty solidly Dem
and so is the paper even though it's owned by Gannett. The surrounding towns are pretty solidly Republican.

Gore and Kerry both won Nashville.

3. Al Gore used to be a reporter for the paper
It's my recollection that the paper is/was owned by the Siegenthaler family, and is typically more liberal than one would expect.

Tennessee is a pretty interesting state in many ways, with a rich history of political independence.

4. It seemed to me to be to the right of some other papers I
read. I think it is great that he has gotten their endorsement.

5. John Kerry carried Nashville by 10 points in 2004
It is an island of blue (as is Memphis) in a red state. I'm glad for the Tennessean endorsement, would have been stunned if they had endorsed Corker, and am nonetheless rolling up my sleeves for the final push, expecting some very dirty Rethuglican politics in the home stretch.

11. I've always found Nashville area to be Republican so this is good
Franklin, TN is soooo conservative. This is a very good endorsement.
