Just wondering if there could be a pairing here, or does Obama want the presidency if he would run.

2. A Hillary Clinton candidacy would be handing the GOP a victory..IMO.
I think she'd be an ok president, that being said she's an easy target.

4. Obama and somebody whose name has never been heard.
I think EVERYBODY is so sick of politicians with 'records' that somebody without baggage would take it easily. Under the doctrine of 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' it might even get members of congress on both sides of the aisle working together for a change.

9. I had hoped by now Obama would have a progressive record
the Republicans could attack with gusto. So far, he's been very much the politician and not the courageous statesman I had hoped he'd be. He's been a disappointment, but I still hope he'll get better.

We need a full-fledged progressive to run in 2008.

18. I agree we need a full fledged progressive,
the only one speaking about a progressive agenda is John Edwards. I'm not saying he should be our candidate, but he's the only one that sounds like a real progressive democrat imho.

5. How 'bout no Obama on the ticket?
Edited on Sun Oct-15-06 12:05 PM by Clark2008
There are far too many racists left in this country and we have to take it back to change that. And, the same is true of HRC. Too many misogynists.

Granted, it's because of 12 years of Republican rule (in Congress), but, I fear neither a black man nor a white woman would have a chance of flipping any purple state.

P.S. Let's see how Ford does in Tennessee. I'm hoping and praying the polls are correct - those that say Ford is 5 percentage points ahead of Corker - and that those 13 percent of Tennesseans who said they would never vote for a black person (yes, that is an actual poll number) don't matter one flip, but we'll see.

8. I am with Clark2008 - No Obama - at least not until we pass
clean election laws so he can stop making decisions that benefit his corporate donors. The latest edition of Harper's has a very good article on "Obama, Inc."

I admire Obama's public service in his early years, but he is racing with open arms right toward the crowd that likes having a government of the corporations, by the corporations, and for the corporations.

26. No Pres candidate will want Obama on the ticket
He is lights-out charsimatica, articulate and sharp as a tack. He will outshine any candidate and does not give an electoral bump anywhere. But more importantly. It would be a wast of his talent. I doubt he would take it if offered.

11. Sorry, but you are off the mark
Obama is words, words, words - see his voting record.

If you want to listen to his words - but do not expect any interest in liberal policies out of him!

Clinton is certainly not the correct person to lead US when it is trying to recover from the Bush havoc of 8 years.

She is also adept at using words to get votes, but look at her voting record and you will realise is what you hear is not what you get!

Al Gore did not stand up when he should have in 2000. So what gives you confidence he will not follow his previous path once again?

Try to get faces who have lived by their standards - Kucinich, Conyers,...

13. Gore & Obama or Gore & Someone else
Obama may want to run for president, but he doesn't have the experience yet. He may run in the primaries, but the party will let him know it is not his turn yet. Gore is clean on the war, ahead on Global Warming, super smart, authentic and he won in 2000 when he wasn't as good a candidate as he is now. He made a huge mistake in 2000 choosing Lieberman for a running mate. He won't do that again. He was reacting too much to the Clinton impeachment. He's over that now. Feingold might be a good choice, Clark also, but he might come up with someone really unconventional. Maybe he would pick an academic (a la Woodrow Wilson) or someone with a great record in an NGO.

20. Obama: great stirring speech at the 2004 convention. What else since?
Running the country isn't exactly rock stardom. Why don't you wait for him to get some experience under his belt?

23. Gore/Clark or Edwards/Clark. Obama 2016.
I was listening to a Hartmann repeat on AAR this morning and I heard Thom say Edwards had a plan to get us out of this trade imbalance mess. Edwards came from the working class and with his hard work, found the American dream.
