I'm going to remember this day and this betrayal for a long time.
I'm putting it safely away with the other betrayals I've experienced over the past 5 years. The votes that supported R bills on big issue votes, regardless of whether the Rs could pass them. It is the principle that they cave, they always cave, and they can't even be honest about why they caved.

I'm remembering this day for a long time.

2. It's too bad they wouldn't "listen" to their base
No doubt they expected to hear from the various organized civil rights groups, as they usually do. But ignoring the emails, faxes, and calls from voters was a mistake.

It's not hard to "mobilize" the ACLU. That's part of what they do. But mobilizing voters (other than fundy nutjobs) isn't easy. And they just pissed it away.

They ARE listening to their base
It's just that their base is the rich corporations, not us.

5. Reword your letter,
and send it to the senators.

They don't represent us; they represent themselves and their contributors.

8. Will you wihthold your vote?
That's all they will listen to. That's how the far right took over the GOP. It means losing for a while, but it's the only way they'll ever take the left seriously.
