Anyone who thinks Lamont is toast should see this new ad "18 Years"
I admit that when I saw his other recent ad "Turncoat," I groaned to myself that it's all over, that we'll be stuck with Joe.

But this new one is a killer.

I didn't know he had made that 3-term pledge, and I bet a lot of CT voters don't know either.

Plus, that bit at the end using his "part of the problem" line against him is perfect.

1. Don't forget: start a YouTube account and RATE IT! It only takes a minute.
Adding it to your "favorites" list can't hurt, either.

8. Was it necessary to scroll black bars over Lieberman's face?
I'd have liked the ad better without that.

13. The moving black bars are the video version of ellipses (...)
When a paper quotes someone, for example. "I'm saying X.....and Y". They'd rather leave out the boring stuff in between, so "..." is what they do.

Joe probably said something in between those two statements, and the "black bar" (featured in another ad) is a way of skipping around and picking the best quotes.

18. A flash of light is another way to show ellipses in a video. (NT)

15. Pretty sure the 'bars' are artifacts of the vertical scanning from TV
when the scan rates don't exactly match. I give the ad a B-minus.

17. don't think so...
looked deliberate to me. Video effect, though run too hot... shoulda put a heartbeat sound/oscilloscope view through each bar and run it slower to heighten the intensity.

9. What does Ned Lamont stand for?
I haven't seen one ad about Ned Lamont. I think people know why not to vote for Lieberman by now, they don't know why they should vote for Lamont. Negative campaigning only goes so far, in the end people still need to know how they're going to personally benefit by voting for the new guy.

14. I get what you're saying, but though this is a neg ad, it's also
holding Lieberman accountable. An incumbent basically runs against himself (his record).

21. If Lamont were winning
I'd say okay, whatever works. This isn't a typical incumbent race. I suspect Lamont is still seen as the far left candidate in Connecticut, that's because he isn't doing enough to highlight his views that are mainstream, or prove lety views really are mainstream. Lamont really should have been able to win this. I'm a bit concerned about what it means for the Democratic Party that he can't pull a majority based on fairly pure Democratic politics. Jon Tester isn't just winning because Burns is an idiot, Burns has always been an idiot. Tester is winning because he's offering something so much better. You have to earn those votes, you don't get them just by saying the other guy is bad. I think Lamont has gotten all he's going to get of the disenfranchised voter, he's going to have to start pushing the difference between centrism and Democrats, policy and vision. Votes that he would have made that would have made a difference and he has to stand up there and say so. Maybe he has been and those ads just haven't been posted. Otherwise, this is what people mean when they say you cannot win on bashing alone, at least not so far.

23. Joe will just drag out the "Weep-O-Crat" meme.
It's getting old fast - hope the good old folks of Connecticut don't fall for it.
