2. He is a genuinely
kind and intelligent human being but I don't think he's cut his eye teeth yet at the national level. I read his autobiography and was very very impressed... but he is still learning the process, IMHO.

5. Exciting and appealing yes.
That doesn't mean he could fill Bobby's shoes as a leader. Nevertheless, he has "IT" in spades.

42. Does It Bother You When Dr. King Or The Reverand Jackson Quote Scripture?
Or Bill Clinton?

Or John Kennedy....

I could go on...

44. here is the difference
King and Jackson are religious leaders so I expect that from them. If is go to see the Reverend speak I am aware that religion will creep in.

I was 1 when Kennedy was killed - his speech did not bother me at the age of 1.

Clinton never spewed religion as the topic of his agenda. He did not beat us on the head with his Christianity - I really liked that about him. Obama is CHRISTIAN, he tells us over and over and over again. He calls out to God, he looks to the bible to enforce his views. Clinton never did that. I couldn't tell you what type of religion Clinton is - which is to his credit. We all know Obama whether we care or not he forces it down our throats.

I am not saying I don't like him as a person - I do. I like his temperment etc. I despise the fact that I can't listen to him for more than a few seconds without his religion - I immediately turn him off, we all do.

37. How many dem senators endorsed LaMont
over a sitting colleague in the primaries?

Also, reread Obama's speech at that religious conference, he sayd the opposite of what you allege. He said that possibly because the left does not discuss spirituality easily the RW fundies came in to fill the void. He certainly denigrates the likes of Pat Robertson.....

38. I think 27 of the 43 Democratic senators
endorsed Lamont.

I am one of "the left," and I don't have any trouble discussing spirituality. I also do not automatically equate spirituality to any of the Judeo-Christian traditions. Objecting to Pat Robertson and his ilk doesn't have to be done on spiritual grounds. It's a legitimate political objection. I'm a deeply spiritual person myself; I just like to keep the line of separation clear. That means that I don't want my representative to voice support for one religious group over another, or use faith to pump up speeches or set policy. I'd rather that the rep model universal ideals like truth, empathy, etc..

20. What a Catchy Name! "OBAMA" I can do a "drum beat" to that wonderful
name! It's just incredible the "resonance" of the sound of that name.

I thing that folks will turn out...because his name is as Cute as "TIGER" Woods.

We Americans just LOVE those cutsey NAMES! They roll so lightly off the tongue and they sound like HEROES!

I love the sound of "Condi-in-the Morning." Makes me think of "warm toasted muffins" and great "shoes" with "pointy toes" that remind me of SadoMasochistic Sex...when I look at the "tooth gap."

25. Too early to say -- But I don't know what I've seen
Other than his amazing convention speech, I haven;t seen much about Obama that I either like or dislike.

He seems like kind oif blank slate to me.

I'm not being facetious about it. I think he might have potential, but he hasn;lt really demonstrated it to any great extent.

31. After that speech, he demonstrated that he would not stand with Boxer
in defense of the American people and free and fair elections, as the Electoral College was being hijacked on Jan. 6, 2005.

An "amazing" speech and an underwhelming proof of his dedication to its contents.

Nuff said. :evilfrown:

The Obama-bashers need to STFU. I'm sick of this Culture Wars-based crap from certain DUers who lynch everyone who isn't ideologically pure. There is a large chunk of the US population that is socially right-wing and economicallly left-wing, all potential voters for our side, THAT is why Obama is talking to evangelicals. The purists don't like that? TOO F-ING BAD.

35. I have yet to see substance
His speech at the Democratic National Convention was one of the few times in politics where a speech really moved me.

Right at that point I had very high hopes for him. I am not writing him off - it is too early do know. But he seems to be too politically centrist for my taste. I had hoped that he would be a person with the convictions and willingness to tell the truth in the style of Dennis K. blended with his poise, articulation and presence.

41. I really hope he doesn't run
Because he will be in a no win situation. He could have 20yrs. experience but he still wouldn't be good enough for many including many on the left. Someone in this thread couldn't say his name so they wrote "it". What kind of mess is that?

People say they have been shown anything since the convention address but they really haven't look either. He just did a speech on climate change a few weeks ago and it was a very good speech. Most of our politicians haven't shown us much.

It's also sad that he can't talk about religion without annoying some of you. Where's the tolerance. All Christians don't embrace the Falwells and Dobsons.
