July 10, 2001.....August 6, 2001 Connect the dots...
Connect the dots.

According to Bob Woodward in his new book "State Of Denial", CIA Director George Tenet had information on Al-Qaeda that was soo critical he rushed to his car and called for an emergency meeting with Condi Rice who was at the time the National Security Adviser.

Tenet had information that Al-Qaeda was going to attack either inside the US or on US interests abroad.

Woodward stated that in his over 27 years of covering the CIA he never heard of such an act taken by a CIA director. Indicating the dire need to inform those above him immediately of the pending attacks.

The July 10 meeting warned of an attack. It was non-specific other than that the target was either US interests abroad or the US mainland itself.

Fast Forward to the August 6 Presidential Daily Brief. The title of the PDB was "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Inside the US"

Very specific information when taken into the context of how the Administration was warned less than a month before on July 10 about Al-Qeada's plans.

Bush was warned and did nothing to stop the attacks.

1. Where was Condi on the morning of 9-11?
Edited on Sun Oct-15-06 05:10 PM by DoYouEverWonder
Supposedly with Cheney in his office watching the attack on CNN.

Cheney and Rice were in contact with Bush in FL, yet all three did nothing to respond to the attack while it was in progress. They all pretended they didn't realize what was going on.

2. And where was Rummy who reportedly had authority to scramble our jet
fighters but in his office oblivious to the fact that the twin towers had been struck until after the Pentagon had been struck if my recollection is correct? How safe I feel with those currently at the helm.

3. He wasn't oblivious at all
He sat there and watched in on TV too. Along with Paul Wolfowitz. See my sig line for Wolfowitz's response.

4. Rumsfeld changed those regulations, too.
Despite the fact that it doesn't appear on the list of changes, this .pdf document shows (page A-2, item 3.c.1.) that procedures were changed to require an approval from the Secretary of Defense before scrambling aircraft.

Previously, according to most sources which cite the change, local authorities could scramble first, then ask for approval to shoot down the target if necessary. Rumsfeld's changes, effective June 1, 2001, made sure those aircraft couldn't be scrambled.

Then, on the morning of 9/11 he disappeared--he and his buddy Paul Wolfowitz were busy warning Members of Congress that within the next twelve months there would be an incident which would demonstrate the importance of America's defenses. Then they wandered back to the office and had a meeting together, rather than drop by the NMCC to give the scramble order.

According to the commander of the National Military Command Center, Rumsfeld was off the map for a critical half hour.

5. Was the 9-11 Commission curious about all this?

6. Sorta-kinda.
According to the Washington Post, the Commission considered referring a related matter to the FBI. NORAD lied to the commission about the scrambling of jets, saying they did when tapes show that they didn't. But I've yet to see any article in the mainstream press which points out that NORAD was probably lying to cover up for Rumsfeld's inaction.

But things are far more convoluted and confused than that. Planes had to have been scrambled at some point before the Pentagon was hit, because everyone in DC heard supersonic booms just a few minutes after the crash. Furthermore, it would appear as if Otis AFB violated protocol and scrambled planes anyway. I don't pretend to know what really happened, I just know for sure that what they say really happened--didn't.
