Internet Gambling Ban Angers Americans
"The reality is that this bill that bans Internet gambling is not angering Americans because it bans a pastime and a cultural phenomenon, it is angering Americans because of how it was passed and the exceptions in the bill to other forms of American gambling.

Lets start with how it was passed. There were no options for politicians to attach amendments to this bill. There was no time for politicians to even read the bill before it was brought up in Congress. There was no opportunity for any dissent or discussion to enlighten politicians before they voted.

The reality is that this bill was deceitfully attached to a Port Security Bill by a corrupt politician, Senator Bill Frist, who claims he is against gambling, yet was able to carve out exceptions for horse racing and state run lotteries, all while accepting campaign contributions from Harrah's Entertainment.

The reality is that Senator Bill Frist is corrupt and needs to be investigated."

3. Only their version of it.
I wouldn't consider killing innocents (or anybody, for that matter) and screwing the poor to be moral.

I know that you know this. Just a reminder.

13. Evidently, so do democrats
First paragraph of the original link...

"Internet gambling does nothing to promote sustainable economic development," U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Toledo said. "It merely offers an opportunity for offshore companies and foreign interests to make a quick buck on the backs of the poor and vulnerable."

So goes the majority of political opinion about Internet gambling.

Seems anyone who can make a buck off gambling would like to use legislation to eliminate the competition.

4. I figured that Freepers made up a good chunk of the "degenerate
sports gambler" community, and laughed my ass off when I read that * was taking credit for getting this bill passed the other day...

7. Yes...
I had a friend over today watching football who has money tied up in an Internet gambling account and he doesn't know how he's going to get it back. Basically all of the accounts are frozen.

Needless to say, he's pissed.

I told him, great, so now that the 'pubbies have screwed you royally, you're going to go out and vote Democratic on Nov. 7th right? He didn't say no. I know one thing, he's not going out to vote for any pukes, that's for damn sure.

6. Sounds alot like Jack Abramoff
shutting down some casinos in the name of morality, when in fact he was just eliminating the competition for the casinos that were paying him the most money.

10. I'm glad the view that Bill Frist (R) is corrupt is spreading.
The Conference Committee is supposed to be for compromising between House and Senate versions of a bill. Not adding things, as Bill Frist abused it for.
