The South is rising again (against Bush!)
Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 07:53 PM by Roland99
Another installment in my personal observations while driving through the south.

A couple months ago, I took my younger daughter on a trip to DisneyWorld with a fresh set of bumper stickers on the car. This was back when gas was at or near $3/gal. I had a few people slow down to read the stickers but never a wave or honk or anything.

Well, this past weekend I spent in Atlanta with my older daughter in the uber-conservative area of Gwinnet County (Norcross area)...you know, the area where Runaway Bride's church is.

I had no less than 5 people on Sunday alone honk and wave and give the thumbs up to the stickers!

Just two months had passed and gas was down to about $2/gal.

People are fed up!

Oh, and the number of B/C or W stickers on the whole 800+ mile trip? 4.

3. On a side note....
I noticed the drivers were, in general, back to 10+mph over the speed limit. On the trip two months ago, very few passed me at more than 5-6 mph faster than I was going. Yesterday on the way home? Must have been hundreds.

So much for people wanting to help rid us of our addiction to oil.

What, me conserve?

4. And then there's this
A woman who was ticketed for having an obscene anti-President George W. Bush bumper sticker filed a lawsuit in federal court Monday against a county in the state of Georgia and its officials.

Denise Grier, 47, of Athens, Georgia, got a $100 ticket in March after a police officer in DeKalb County, which is in the suburbs of Atlanta, spotted the bumper sticker, which read "I'm Tired Of All The BUSH--."

Although a DeKalb judge threw out the ticket in April because the state's lewd bumper sticker law that formed the basis for the ticket was ruled unconstitutional in 1990, Grier is seeking damages for "emotional distress" against the county, according to the lawsuit.

The ticket was tossed but it just goes to show how thick some of Georgia's finest are. I wonder if they call that cop Bubba.

5. Yeah, saw that. Good to know a cop's opinion is not the rule of law.
