Ford introduced its new product today. In our little town, no less.Idiots
And they are idiots.

I am pretty much involved in local activities and our little OktoberFest (one night only, last Friday 13th) was better planned than was Ford's launch of the vehicle that they are hoping will save their bacon.

They came in here like steamrollers, all corporate and all that crap.

Came out erecting 24foot tall stanchions and banners. Twenty-four of those babies.

On people's lawns.

And floated an inflatable 30'X10'X4' thing right over our waterfront.

We then proceded to blow them away.

All of their shit is gone.
But the cars and several hundred writers are here over the next few days.

I'll bet Tiburon (that's our little Town) gets better press than does Ford's last hope.

You would just not believe what kind of clueless morons are occupying those offices in that fucked-up company.

If they would have asked, we would have given a lot of ground.

But they just came in here as if we were working for them.

It was surreal..

Stupefying.

And depressing.

Can't anybody here play this game?
with apologies to Mr Stengel

1. So, do I have this right:
They were putting the stanchions and banners on
people's lawns WITHOUT ASKING permission? Is that
what you're saying?

4. That's what I'm saying.
Corporate Amerika in asshole motion.

And they were shocked - shocked! I'll tell ya - that those homeowners would take exception to it.

This is right on San Francisco Bay and these land owners can be pretty vocal and pro-active.

The Ford people were mind-numbingly (is that a word?) blind.

9. Wow. Had that been MY front yard, my response would have been,
"Thanks for the free banner, asshole....now
get the fuck off my property."

I take it the good citizens of Tiburon felt much
the same way. Good on them!

10. Oh, man, it was just great...
watching GoodGadA'mightyFord quail in the face of civil resistance.

They were absolutely flabbergasted.

Tom Snyder (remember The Late, Late Show?) was first and foremost.

It was fucking great.

5. There is no place in the US like Tiburon.
You would just have to be here to know.

3. Sam's
Fond memories of Tiburon. Live in LA now. Don't get back to Marin enough.

Crazy women, good food, great wine, beautiful views.

To hell with Ford.

6. I can see Sam's deck from my house.
I live 110 feet up the hill directly above the Ferry Landing.

The sound vortexes up the hill from Sam's deck and I can recognize voices from Sam's.

Saves me a lot of trouble.

7. I once knew the family that had a house on the point ...
... at the southern tip (Belvedere Avenue?) - great view of the city and the bay. They bought it back in the 60s before the property prices exploded. The He______z family. Their daughter, Judy, and I met in Tahiti.

Memories. (sigh)

8. I wish I knew how to post pics
I have, arguably, the best view in Belvedere/Tiburon.

Angel Island to the left, the City Across the Bay, and the tip of Corinthian and the City side of The Golden Gate Bridge to my right.

I walk out onto my veranda and tell myself to not take it for granted.

Every day.

12. if they're on your computer
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 06:05 AM by notadmblnd
you have to upload them to a place like photobucket.com (it's free), then copy url into your post. If they're on the internet, then what you want to do is right click on the image, click properties, copy url from properties window (it will say or something similar), thne paste the link into the body of your post and viola! you have pictures.

13. I'd still rather own a Ford than some piece of Japanese crap.
My Fords always out-performed my ex-husband's Toyotas and Nissans.
