White House Surrenders to the Possibility of Another NK Nuke Test
White House: Second N. Korea Nuclear Test Wouldn't Be Suprising

WHITE HOUSE (AP) - October 17, 2006 - The White House says it wouldn't be surprised if North Korea tries another nuclear test, just "to be provocative."

The president's spokesman says, even though a second test blast "would not be a good thing for them," it wouldn't be out of character.

Spokesman Tony Snow says the U.S. won't discuss "particular matters of intelligence." But he says North Korea's record lends itself to a "reasonable" expectation that Pyongyang will try "to test the will, the determination and the unity of the United Nations."

1. Why not say it like it is:
"The president is too weak in the world theater to be able to do anything effective to stop this." It's the truth and it would be refreshing to hear for once. Diplomacy, leverage, back channels are all gone, and Chimpy sure as hell has lost the moral high ground. We all know it so why not dispense with the bullshit?

2. I wonder how many ways they can find to threaten 'serious consequences'?
stop or we'll get the international community to tell you to stop . . . after that, we'll have to petition God herself.

Let us pray . . .

3. North Korean spokespersons have stated that the UN embargo
...is an act of war and North Korea intends to retaliate. I heard that on NPR news at 11:00am today.

5. If NK really does have 9-11 nukes (9 11, get it?) would they really
want to waste such a precious military resource in a second test? What would it prove?

I'm afraid that * is setting us up for a nukular first strike on NK. After all, they are threatening us (with their non-existant ICBMs).
