I've been to a few Ramadan meals, and they're pigouts (pardon the expression!). If that's all he served, they were cheap with the courses. Damn, you're HOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGREEEEEEEEE when you haven't eaten all day....!!!

Ah, found the menu--sorry, this ain't enough FOOOOOOOOD:

Menu for the Iftaar Dinner

Ramadan 2006

Spiced Carrot Soup
Roasted Quince

Mint Pesto-crusted Halibut
Citrus Fondue
Wheatberry Pilaf
Largueta Almonds and Currants

Vine-ripened Tomato Salad
Fresh Basil and Olive Oil

Warm Pear Souffle
Caramel Sauce
Chocolate Macaroons

Heavy on the words, way too easy on the chow.

5. I did say pardon the expression!!! There's no other way to describe
a bunch of hungryass people devouring food from sundown to quite late in the evening, then either staying up all night (and sleeping during the day) or waking up before sunrise to glug down enough water and have a bit more chow to see them through, if they have to work until the next sundown....

6. Just remember that Muslims regard pigs as 'unclean' animals ...
so 'pig' is kind of a loaded word, not that anyone thought you meant it that way.

7. Uh, did you read my full post?
I've lived and worked in muslim countries for years. I was discussing Ramadan fast breaking when I made the remark.

The pigout reference was intended humorously. And, I can tell you on personal authority, Muslims actually DO have a sense of humor, even when discussing subjects like ham and bacon. So long as you don't force them to EAT it, they actually CAN laugh about it.

Good grief, the "grave" patrol is always out in force, it seems.

8. I have an Iranian ex-boss who asked me over to a post Ramadan feast
I've seen it in all its glory (altho Shia are a little more sophisticated than Sunnis). I appreciate the word play. But if you're ever in mixed company, I recommend "chow down" or "schmeg out". ;)
