Police investigate alleged attack on Jewish man
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200610/s1766633.htm

Victorian police are investigating the alleged assault of a man in the Melbourne suburb of Caulfield on Saturday night.

It is alleged 33-year-old Menachem Vorcheimer was a few metres from his synagogue on Balaclava Road when he was attacked by a number of players from the Ocean Grove Football Club about 6.30pm AEST.

The men allegedly made shooting motions, shouted anti-semitic insults and stole his traditional clothing.

Police are yet to charge anyone over the assault and alleged racial abuse.

Police have about 50 witnesses to interview and it could be some time before any charges are laid.

2. "alleged" a bit over-used here
sounds like the person reporting is skeptical (?). The asault is not "alleged" but the "racial abuse" is?
How about the fellow was asaulted, physically and verbally ('racial').

3. It should always be "alleged" in initial newspaper accounts. . .
until a court of law establishes the facts, everything is "alleged." It's the way Western jurisprudence should work.
