I Don't Really Care Whether A Repub/Democrat Is Gay
THIS IS A NON FRICKIN' ISSUE!!

I already know the repubs are 100% HYPOCRITES. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM is a HYPOCRITE!!

Exposing a few repubs in Congress, for being Gay, and consistently voting against their own kind, does not surprise me at all. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES, AND THE LAWS DO NOT EFFECT THEM!!

Anybody who is homosexual and supports the repub party is a HYPOCRITE, and any repub in congress who is gay is a HYPOCRITE. The fact I know their names is meaningless. They're there, and they're HYPOCRITES, but there are more important things than learning there are repub HYPOCRITES in congress.

That's Not News.

1. Being gay is not the issue. Being closeted is
There is a world of difference.

2. How Does Being Closeted Make A Difference?
Closeted Gay Repub = HYPOCRITE

Open Gay Repub = HYPOCRITE

I guess for the lowest common denominator MORON, that makes up about 35% of the American public, a story like this is needed to make them see the HYPOCRISY.

But there are clearly more important things than what lifestyle these HYPOCRITES lead.

They're trying to tie this in with Foley, and they are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS!!

7. Closet case == open to subversion and blackmail
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 06:01 PM by TechBear_Seattle
The ONLY reason to live in the closet is fear. Such fear makes one very susceptible to blackmail and other means of subversion. Our lawmakers, especially national law makers with access to national security secrets, should not hold office when they are so susceptible.

The difference between living a secret life that you will go to great lengths to protect, and living an open life, is quite literally a matter of national importance. I could not care less about a person's "lifestyle" or sexuality; I do care very much about when secrecy about one's "lifestyle" or sexuality make it much easier to subvert our political system.

And for the record, I am a gay man. I have been face to face with bigotry, discrimination and hate because of it. I had one friend murdered because he was gay. Nonetheless, I feel that gay politicians must either be open and honest about being gay, or should stay out of politics and the public spotlight entirely.

4. I don't care either - but their "base" sure as shit cares
and that's why it's important. These religio-wackos are not going to vote democratic, but the constant drip drip drip of stories about gay repubs will be enough to make a lot of them stay home on election day. As far as I'm concerned out everyone of the assholes and if they molested kids out them for that too. If they wanted to blissfully stay in the closet they should not have aligned themselves with a party that hates them. The best part of this is the damage it does to the "macho" image the repubs have so carefully crafted for themselves.

5. I See Your Point
Unfortunately, these folks on the repub side are MORONS, and so if stories like this help to keep some of the RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, BIGOTED MORONS to stay home on election day, then it's good for our side.

6. I would say most at DU don't care one way or another
what someones sexual orientation is...

What we care about is can somone do their friggen job....and do it well...

The Repugs made being Gay an issue and the very Gay Repugs that are being outed participated in the brazen attack on tax paying Gay Americans for this they deserve what they get....

For too long Democrats and anyone that disagrees with the Republicans have worried and hemmed and hawed over how they should react to the constant attack by the Repug machine...

Well you go toe to toe and fist to fist with them....that is the only way to kick their asses.....

8. Most swingvoters do NOT know the level of hypocrisy that you are aware of.
It's not news to us, but it will be news to some.

9. Well, that's your opinion and considering it does not matter to you
you seem to be very worked up about it. Shouting words with caps should be used as a spice in a tasty post and not as a main ingredient.

10. It is a frickin issue
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 06:17 PM by Marnieworld
It's a issue because it proves that they are wrong. They're wrong when they try and get an ammendment to the frickin constitution. They are wrong when they try and prevent people from any frickin protections from discrimination or violence. They are wrong when they make statements equating homosexuality to frickin beastiality. They're wrong when they feel free to express their hatred and hide it behind the Bible all the while calling themselves "normal" and "moral". They are wrong to want to continue to make homosexual people (GLBT) in this country second class citizens. So it's very hard to have a moment where you can say "See? You are wrong!" like you have when a hypocrite gets outed or we discover the party of "values" protects pedophiles and not get all you can from it.

By having a hypocritical anti-Gay Gay Senator outed it makes Republicans have to admit to the world that Gays are everywhere. Their point of view of "us vs. them" is, has been and always will be a lie and an outed politician shows this. The GLBT community is a part of society, a valuable part that really is good enough for the GOP because they are in the GOP. So since these clearly are the GOP values and they've been hiding it, it's obvious that they have been manipulating and lying to all of the homophobes all along. So they've betrayed their base, used them and mocked their values. Most of all showed the liberal value of tolerance and acceptance, of equality is the value system that works and is actually the American way. That makes it a frickin issue.
