CNN Equates "Reid Scandal" With That Of Foley
A classic case of how the Mighty Wurlitzer operates. Two days ago a story is planted on an AP Reporter that attempts to slime Reid...charges that were quickly debunked, but that didn't matter. Within 24 hours the "Reid Scandal" was being astroturfed on hate radio and all of a sudden Senator Reid somehow made 1.2 or was that 1.4 million in some deal that changes description by the right wing spewer trying to spin it.

Just now CNN picks up the ball...Lou Doobies has a reporter on comparing the "Reid Scandal" with that of Foley as being a reason people are turned off on the House & Senate.

This is handiwork of the GOOP spin machine...Josh Marshall thinks this is another Barbara Comstock production...

Some would call this jury nullification. Muddy the waters so much that moderate Repugnicans and "independents" who may be thinking of voting Democrat get disgusted...spreading the meme that "all parties are corrupt" and hope they'll stay home.

5. No Mention Of The Denny Hastert Land Deal
Or Brian Billbray making a fortune on his land speculating or Jerry Lewis...now do we really want to open this can of worms?

Again...this is strictly throwing mud and hoping to get something/anything to stick

4. Media ownership reform will fix that problem
Once Dems retake Congress. Let's make sure we ride their asses to get it done.

12. Fairness Doctrine Never Applied To Talk Shows
It only applied to Public Affairs programming. Also it really was intended to give candidates the lowest advertising rates...so that candidate A didn't pay more than candidate B.

It's media consolidation and the relaxation of license requirements that need to be examined. Radio stations no longer were requiered to offer a certain percentage of their programming as news or Public affairs and the definitions of entertainment to include shows like Limbaugh and others were expanded. With radio station having to only renew their licenses every 7 years as opposed to 3 and the burden of liability to have their license challenged or revoked all but eliminated, it opened the door to hate radio and the destruction of radio.

Restoring ownership caps, shortening licensing periods, re-instating the 3-year selling rule, encouraging local ownership and making license challenges easier would be a good first step in restoring sanity to the airwaves and return it to the people.

7. Just curious.
Is Reid in danger of losing his Seat? I don't think so, so why would they think a "Reid Scandal" would turn Voters off the Democrats -- and make them forget Foley, Iraq, torture, etc. -- after 6 years of Republican BS?

8. that story is a RERUN of the exact same clip they ran on Situation Room
exactly the same: same reporter, same words, same activist from Center for Public Integrity, I think

not ONE word in defense of Reid; not ONE word to explain that what he did was perfectly legal

amazing

wonder how many more times they'll run this exact story today

at least once during the next Situation Room, once during Paula Zahn, and once more on A Cooper, then in the reruns.

that's, what, four or five more times today?

10. thats totally wrong
what Foley did was wrong what GOP leadership did was worse.

Reid should know better and had the damn funds in his own account, why can't he just do the right thing and not depend on his lawyers? He has the means.. I am very disappointed.

13. I read some where that Rove had dirt on Reid and Pelosi
This seems to be a slowly timed sleaze release. I'm expecting that Nancy will be next. Even if there's not much there the media will beat it to death.

The message. Democrats are crooks too. Don't bother to vote.
