Scalito Nears Confirmation -- Prepare for the Worst
Susan Estrich Throws in the Towel

There is no doubt in my mind that there should be filibuster on the Senate floor to prevent, or at least delay, Alito's final approval. He would be a decisive vote to cut back precious liberties and the rights of all Americans. His vote would dangerously tilt the law against innocent Americans exercising their First Amendment rights. Unfortunately, the country will pay the price for Judge Alito for a long time to come.

I also bring to you attention an excellent summary by News Hounds of my good friend Bobby Scott's appearance on Hannity and Colmes last night. Susan Estrich was subbing as the supposedly "liberal" co-host, and her performance was really pathetic. The full post is worth a read, but it is clear her job was to ingratiate herself to Fox, not offer a useful debate.

If That Was a Bounce...
Then the Ball Needs Some Air

The American Research Group has a new poll up. If you haven't heard about it, I don't blame you because no one is covering it.

Remember the 2005 winter media spin that Bush was "coming back?" The "Bush Bounce," it was called.

Well, let's just say he has come back to the planet earth, if he ever left at all.

Let's see who can come up with the best example of someone touting a "Bush bounce" last year.

And if you are so inclined, in the interests of fairness, maybe you could ask some media folks why they aren't covering the Bush "fall" from the "bounce" that never was as much as the "bounce" itself. A helpful link is here.
