1. UGH, it is hideous, and not new.
Let kids be kids. The GOP does the indoctrinating, we let kids think for themselves.

Our role as adults, not just mommies or daddies, is simply to lead by example. That way, the kids can come to the logical conclusion that helping the least of thy brethren is the moral and decent thing to do. Fairness is important. Work should be valued. Freedoms should be respected.

But we don't have to preach to them with icky cartoon books....yecch.

them why we are not Repubs. My oldest neice (now 9) will say when she grows up she wants to be the president or run a state like Gov Sebelius. You have to teach them to be active in politics.

3. My family was like that
Dad's a liberal (supported Kucinich in '04). Looked at me strangely if I ever listened to RW radio (I liked to tune in occasionally to hear what the other side was talking about). And I am most certainly grateful.

Thanks, Pops!

4. Exactly. We should tell them what we believe and WHY we believe it.
Take them to political events. Take them to vote with you. My sister and brother in law vote by mail every year. When they get their ballots, we make "ballots" for my nieces to fill out and "send" them in too. They write to Santa--why shouldn't we teach them to vote?
