Sorry.
I had a major infestation and tried everything. I finally downloaded the trial of AVG and it got rid of everything. Norton didn't do anything.

13. It works well and has caught more than other programs I have tried. |
|
They want (after a month's free trial) $39 for two years AUTOMATIC protection. I'm going to test using it manually in a few days to see how I like using it that way. I certainly wouldn't mind running a test every day if that works just as well.

21. I just downloaded it and it found nothing which I am glad |
|
My neighbor turned me on to avg antivirus and I have been happy with it. And this anti-spyware looks like I could like it too. I have my cookies turned off so I don't get too much spyware or adware.

I hate Norton. God, the program is like quackgrass. Once it gets into your system, it's harder to kill than the viruses it's supposed to protect you against.

also I use a router with firewall. No I'm not crazy I just work with computers. AVG runs on a machine on my net and I use it to check behind others. No one product will work and stupid users can't be programed out of the equation.

And I thought it was well worth it. Freeware programs weren't doing the trick. StopZilla made my computer work like it was just out of the box.

25. Thank you, folks, for mentioning AVG. It just helped me. |
|
I've been plagued with an evil malware file that McAfee could not handle. I just downloaded AVG, and it gobbled that sucker right up. It was really fucking annoying, with "adult friend finder" pop-ups and pseudo-system warnings, and I couldn't get rid of it. AVG got it right off the bat!

Take good care of your computer, use a firewall, and know what you are installing BEFORE you install it, and your virii/spyware wos will be over.

This cleans out critters others haven't. It updates daily...and works quietly in the background. It also does a nightly quick scan and weekly full scan...I've used this system for nearly 3 years (after my browser kept getting hijacked) and haven't had problems since.
