George Allen's Jewish Heritage - Similar To Gay Outing? |
|
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 07:55 PM by taquinas101
and just as some folks say that identifying conservatives who are gay is homophobic, is the disclosure of Geroge Allen's jewish background anti-semetic?
I just think it is ironic that Democrats are so senstive about "politicizing" such issues, which leaves Republicans free reign to attack Democrats without fear of retribution. For example, Foley's conduct comes out, and political pundits repeat the line that Democrats should be careful about politicizing such an incident, yet we spent eight under Clinton dealing with such garbage.
Frankly, I think we cannot be ashamed about highlighting the hipocrisy of Republicans. I have no problem with a gay congressman. However, a gay congressman who supports a homophobic platform should be held accountable. Its about accountability in my eyes.

1. One major political (though not ethical) difference... |
|
Outing a gay person in Virginia- makes a political difference.
Outing the deceased grandmother of a candidate in Virginia as being Jewish- makes no difference whatsoever.

3. So, what's with George Allen immediately . . . |
|
reassuring his constituents that he eats ham sandwiches? I think George is anti-semetic, and he is reassuring those constituents who share such views. At least in his mind, it does make a difference.

about it making a difference to George Allen. That's because he's racist. But in the general election, it won't matter a bit...racists will already vote for the Republican candidate no matter what happens. They aren't swing voters.

Of course it is. All his best buds, all the people he never bothered to tell. There was a reason for that.
They think Jews are a separate and polluted, evil race. Like one or two I've met here.
But why would you aid and abet that thinking? Why would you enable it by keeping the secret? The shameful secret. Grandma knew what a menorah was. Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.
Anyone who thinks there's something wrong with that IS the anti-semite.
So why were you asking that question?

5. Does your reasoning apply to gay outing then? |
|
In other words, I could re-phrase your post:
"Of course it is. All his best buds, all the people he never bothered to tell. There was a reason for that.

I see no difference. Do you?

8. Felix has never passed any anti-semitic laws |
|
But, he has openly and happily associated with the public Klan, ie the CCC. So, I understand the point the reporter (who was Jewish) was making, and agree with what they did.
