Bush's Military Commission Bill and its termination of the Bill of Rights.
Now I really feel down in the dumps.

4. I was thinking the same thing, but it'll never happen. and what's WORSE: |
|
if dems win both houses, then the presidency, THEN rescind this law, the SCOTUS WILL overturn the rescission!
how cool is that?

Things are pretty rough right now, and there is plenty of reason for concern. But the truth is that we have options that include regaining control of the legislative and executive branches. And when that happens, and this "law" is laid to rest, the USSC would not, and indeed could not, overturn that.

Justices are supposed to uphold the constitution and while the argument can be made that laws are open to interpretation, the laws that the torture bill violates are VERY clear. Any judge who can't see that is either an idiot or a political idealogue who has no business sitting on the US Supreme Court!

The Constitution is very clear: the United States in not, nor was it ever intended to be, a dictatorship. The power of our government is divided between three co-equal branches. The Bill of Rights has specific details about the rights of the people and what the government can and cannot do.
The "torture bill" eliminates the Bill of Rights and gives all the power to the president, who gets to decide on his own who is and is not a "threat" to the country. In other words, it completely disregards and/or overrules the Constitution. Any judge, especially one who sits on the US Supreme Court, will recognize that immediately. If they choose to rule in Bush's favor anyway, that can only mean one of two things: they are complete idiots (which I doubt) or they are ideologues who would prefer to rewrite the Constitution to fit their political agenda. Basically, it would be a right-wing coup. :-(

“I'm always happy to speak to the Federalist Society, because I am something of an unabashed Madisonian; I think that he helped shape a constitutional system which is unique and has proven itself time and time again to be inspired. And this Society, of course, advances many of those values.” -Jonathan Turley, George Washington University

He's damn good. And KO's second guest nailed it: Once the people know CITIZENS can be declared enemy combatants just for supplying something as vague as "material support," this will backfire big time on BushCo. They consider it their October surprise that will carry them through the election. We have to debunk it!
This KO enlightenment needs spread far and wide, and once on YouTube, needs DUed like we've never DUed before. Nothing, NOTHING, matters more.
Someone please post the link when it gets to YouTube.

and if they still won't listen to the people then it's OUR constitutional duty to revolt and overthrow this tyranny. That's what the founding fathers would have us do.
