By Sept 10th, 2001 it closed at:

It regained its pre-9/11 position within 2 months:
November 1 2001 Close 9,608.00

Over 4 years later, we still are not where we were before bush:
January 25 2006 Close 10,709.74

Compared to Jan 25, 2001:
January 25 2001 Close 10,729.52

Most experts believe this cycle began in mid 2000 after the collapse of the tech bubble. These cycles have a nasty history of lasting on average about 16 years. By my count we could be looking at these type of ugly stock markets for another 10 years.

It's got to be true because if you read the annual reports, senior management of so many companies are rewarding themeselves as if it's 1999 all over again (while cutting benefits to everybody else.)
