1. Over the weekend BEFORE voting Tuesday, there will be stories
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 09:25 AM by fob
about "old refineries" and "taking refineries offline for maintenance", but ON Nov 8, there will be a refinery "accident" or fire or whatever that will immediately result in $3.00/gallon gas, or higher.

2. They will remain at current levels
Why? Bexause on Nov. 8, dems will have subpoena power in the house! They will have to explain the gouging then. And they do not want that. They also do not want them to look into the $3.00+ prices earlier this year.

I hope the dems spare no expense in investigating every misdeed this administration has pulled off.
Put every person in the administration under oath and give them the opportunity to spill their guts or go down with the ship!

Rats don't swim well.

5. Wish I could believe that.
But the Democrats had control of Congress for some 40 years and there was never any serious investigation into gas price gouging - what makes you think they'd be any different this time around? Far too many politicians are influenced by Big Oil, including more than a few of ours, unfortunately.

4. Expect the price to triple in two weeks time.
Why...big profits. Remember how insane they were feeling with the money they were raking in.

7. I was working for Mobil back in 1976-1977
They had so much cash on hand after the gasoline shortage that they didn't know what to do with it. Among other things, they bought out the old department store/ mail order outfit Montgomery Ward's and ended up running it into the ground shortly after.

8. Nothing. Prices Will Remain Low For A Few Weeks After,
about the attention span of the average sheeple, so as to not be completely transparent.

A resumption of sabre rattling and a 'cold winter' will provide the rationale for the increase thereafter.

Remember;

Compartmentalization
Deniability
Plausibility

'them'.

For support shown Venezuela, Bolivia. For all the FOIA requests. For all the lawsuits. For losing coalition partners. For documentaries. For not sacrificing our children more generously and with less whining. For their dirty secrets coming out. For their obviuusly glaring glance away from North Korea - a country with the capability thanks to Moon and the Bush group and not enough on Iran - a country that is not ready by their own admission one plus year ago = their own NSC said Iran was 10 yeara away. So, over $3 for all the lies they can't get away with and the light being shown on them.

12. If the Dems win the house and/or senate, it will go up...
Edited on Wed Oct-18-06 10:11 AM by Javaman
if the repukes maintain control, it will go up.

it's all bullshit. However, what we will see this time around will be: the prices won't shoot up. They will be the boil the frog syndrome. Why?

Because as some of you might have read, SUV sales are up. As long as big auto can clear their lots of their colossal millstones the price of gas won't zoom up anytime soon. It will start to rise in the spring. The old excuse will be; SUMMER DRIVING!!!

That's right folks, they will roll out that pile of bullshit once again. However, it will be a hard pill to sell when the price tops 3 bucks a gallon. when in the past the price for SUMMER DRIVING has only risen on the average 10-15%. Not 30-40%.

next as all these dumb bastards who bought the SUV's realize they have been fucked, they will unload them at a greatly reduced price. Putting themselves deeper into debt. In steps the credit companies then jacking their interest rates. Suddenly you have a gigantic section of society that will be so totally fucked, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the suicide rate skyrockets.

Prepare for the bullshit wars.

Even if we take back both the house and the senate, chaney and his "energy task force" will squeeze our collective nuts in a vice to make sure their oil buddies make money hand over fist over dead body.

We are at plateau. Things are going to get scary very soon. Probably within the next year to year and a half. Last summer was on the coming attractions.

13. the price will climb, no matter the outcome, and here's why:
1. If the republicans win, then the ploy of artificially keeping gas prices down WORKED, so there's no need to continue to avoid gouging anymore.
2. If the democrats win, then the ploy of artificially keeping gas prices down DIDN'T WORK, so there's no need to continue to avoid gouging anymore.

either way, the oil companies have become too addicted to us paying outrageous sums at the pump, so the price will climb. I figure at least 4 dollars a gallon or more by christmas. I would NOT be surprised to 5 and 6 dollar prices on the coasts.
