Never trust a man who says, "Trust Me."
Hi all. Does anyone know if there is there some historical use of this quote "never trust a man who says, 'Trust Me'," or is it just common sense? My google search turns up a bunch of hits of current usage, but if there's some historical reference, I'd love to hear about it.

Thanks a lot! :hi:

2. I don't know about historical use or common sense, but it is true
Anyone who says "trust me" has most always turned out not to be trustworthy.

Trustworthiness is an earned state, not automatic.

5. Well, it is what mothers have told their daughters for eons, especially
...when they are about to let go of their virginity to some stud! Gary Bauer prefers that young women sign a pledge not to have sex until their wedding night regardless of how much trust she may have in the target of her affections. For the rest of us, just reflect back on all of the requests George Dubya has made of the American people to trust him and even his dad's famous line, "...Read my lips, NO NEW TAXES!"
