What the heck is "non-hostile fire?"
I notice that four of the ten killed yesterday in Iraq were killed by non-hostile fire. Shot in a friendly way?

could be friendly fire or it could be suicide or an accident with a gun.

3. Friendly fire.
Short rounds, fog of war, or just plain incompetence.. Exactly what killed Pat Tillman.

8. That's what I was thinking
But that happened last week. And only one of the non-hostile fire incidents was listed in the Baghdad area.

11. Wounds could have been sustained days ago. That dump is
probably still burning. That much ammo can't be safely extinguished in a few hours or even days. Big big clean up job I bet.

10. Fire ...as in flames? As in ammo dumps?
Refrigerators work well, just add to the hellish daily count. Who would know? Good grief, will this ever end!

18. According to the Cheney Dictionary of Hunting Terms ....
...that is when you purposefully fire your weapon, in contravention of all rules which prohibit firing a weapon in those circumstances, and your dicharge strikes a friendly target.
