There's hope....teens understand
This gives me hope. Too many imply teens are clueless and not paying attention. I guess they are noticing what's happening.

Teens: Country headed in wrong direction
According to a new study by Chicago market research firm Teenage Research Unlimited (TRU), "more than half of teens believe the nation is headed in the wrong direction." TRU calls this "surprising news from a generational cohort often described" -- politely -- "as carefree and optimistic."

Of 1,183 teens aged 12 to 18, 53 percent said the country is "on the wrong track." (Okay, that's only a little more than half.) Fifty-seven percent were critical of U.S policy on the environment; 56 percent say our leaders are "headed in the wrong direction." Fifty-one percent "disapprove of the nation's track record" on education.

Speaking of which, Broadsheet asked TRU if there were any significant gender differences among the stats. Interestingly: nope! Just this: more girls than guys (32 percent vs. 24 percent) believe the country's education system is on the right track. (Again with the War on Boys.)

1. I think our younger
generation is wise enough to know that when they are older, there will be virtually no health care, jobs are all going to be farmed overseas, there will be no women's rights to speak of, and no protection for them in their golden years....The republican party does not think anywhere beyond the next election and all this family bullshit that they carp about is just about their own family, they don't give a shit about the rest of us.

2. We have a lot of hope because
we're young. The young people always have hope in every generation because life seems long to us. I mean, if I have to wait for and work for 20, 30, 40 years before our goals are realized, well, that seems like a good way to spend my life. In my opinion, as a 19 year old male, things probably seem different who has already seen their life pass by and for whom 2, 10, or 15 years doesn't seem like much time. For them it's now or never. I have my youth to absorb what Bush and Co. can throw our way, and my whole working adulthood to try and make things better. I'm sad, but not in panic mode.

4. I love your sig line. I'm originally from Texas, but never, ever
believed what Texans believe about their state. I always told them "you have to get out more". ha I believe in our youth, and I believe no matter what Bushco does, our youth will rise up just like we did in the '60's and take back our country once again. I'm counting on you all.

5. Heh, I remember when I thought it up, too =)
I was walking back from a history class late one freezing night, and as I walked across the packed ice on the "back campus" it came to me like a lightning bolt. Well, actually, two lightning bolts. First off was "Colorado: The only thing between us and Texas is a thin strip of Oklahoma; those brave Oklahomans". Then I thought, well, we don't have the twang either and.... "Colorado: All the charm of Texas without the twang" was born!

As far as the rising up thing goes, I don't know about that so much as I'm sure once we're "in power", i.e. when we're the generation with enough money to have an impact and still enough of our youthful energy left to get things done, I'm sure the country will be much better run than under Bush.

6. That's why we need you
Sometimes it's hard to remember to hope when you've fought and loss before. Still, I do have hope.
