Call me crazy, but I am not convinced a filibuster won't happen.
I was in a store tonight, telling my wife some details on Alito, and people around us were stunned to learn about him upholding the strip search of a 10-year-old girl, the whole issue of family leave wherein he disagreed because he thought it was too long, not on any principle, etc. People just don't know enough (like on so many issues).

I think if this fight breaks out, and the public learns about this guy, that even the average conservative will be freaked out by this guy with respect to privacy and intrusion. Right now, all they see is Roe. But there is plenty to freak out citizens of all stripes here. It just isn't known beyond those who follow politics (and we are very few).

I think after hearing those speeches today, especially when the Dems got smart and started using Alito's own words to stop the Republican spin on Alito's positions, that those willing to fight have set the stage for a genuine battle and have made it "safe" for others to join in.

I could be wrong (wouldn't be first or last time), and know every says there will be no filibuster, but the way this is playing out, I have the sense that it's not as lost a cause as it seems.

1. I hope that you're right.
It bothers me that the msm just isn't doing their job--to inform the public. Most of the public just doesn't have the time (they think) or the inclination to start researching the info. they get on tv or radio, by going on-line and challenging what they do get.

Think of the people in Nazi Germany that just didn't get it. Sure they could see the trains, and the Jews disappearing, but continued to tell themselves it just wasn't 'that bad.'

2. The MSM is not part of the fourth estate anymore.
They are not there to report facts. They are there to protect the rat bastards who are trying to take our country from us.

3. I think I'm the ONLY person in my town who lives to watch C-SPAN
all day long. Most people have never even heard of the network and that is the ONLY place where they can get the TRUTH. The corporate media is doing exactly what the WH wants them to do...hide any and all pertinent info from the people.

PRAVDA.

Think about it. The ONLY reason we know about ScAlito is because of C-SPAN and DU. By the time he's confirmed, it's too late to do anything about it. It's a LIFETIME appointment. When the sheeple learn the truth, it's too late.

5. I wish Kerry et al would mix in a little of that smartvoter reality.
Alito's support of child molestation, and his hate-group membership can go a long way, if inserted in the appropriate contexts.

6. He spoke about it on the Senate floor today.

Too bad he wasn't on the Judiciary Committee during the hearings. He's the best interrogator in the senate. He ran the DAs office in Boston before he was Lt. Gov. He took on alot of Mafia cases.
