Who would Jesus Vote for this upcoming election day? I'll tell ya. |
|
In the heart of an evil and corrupt roman empire (everything from slavery to war, etc) this Jesus guy came along. Let's ponder his philosophy for a moment shall we?
He sent out his followers to convert folks, to tell them the 'good news'. He didn't send them out there to get elected and changes laws forcing people to his way. The whole thing was about a personal choice, a freedom of choice in this life. The afterlife was a whole other ball game- but here on this great world he had created he preached the same thing from the garden of eden until his time here. You are free to choose. Period.
And so comes the religious right, with their desires to base laws limiting choice and punishing it (and the left sometimes as well is seen in that light on smoking and other issues).
The right wants to MAKE you conform or to PUNISH you if you don't. Here and now. Remember Jesus and the prostitute? "He who has not sinned (broken the law) cast the first stone."
Jesus did not want people herded into a sheperds field to be watched over, he wanted sheep who wished to follow him to do so of their own will and desire. He was pro-choice in this world.
I am a freewill christian, going my own way with the faith. I don't want some dude behind a pulpit telling me what to do and how, I can read all on my own thank you very much. I don't want your DAMNED theocracy here.
OH, did you also forget that a large part of the bible is devoted to prophets getting killed because they brought up how much followers were fucked up? Nothing seems to change - when folks like me call you on your screw ups you gloss over them and call me a gay loving liberal. Yeah, I am buddy. Cause the biggest problem today we face ain't the gays and pro-choice freedom loving people, it's you and your fellow pharisees in the refucklican party.
Whore of babylon? Well, they ain't talking about me, the prophets were talking about you and your idolatry to the dollar.
So who would Jesus vote for? Well, it sure would not be a republican.
