did anyone hear the marvelous christian conservative on randi today?
he wrote a book, "Right Wing Politics & Religion: The Unholy Alliance Exposed"

his name is Henry Bechthold and he is a christian conservative minister (or some such)

he was talking to randi for a long time and they had an interesting discussion
about the hypocrisy of some religions and concepts of right and wrong. randi let him
talk on and on and their interaction was very moving. i was starting to cry...

i am going to get ahold of the book. it's on amazon.

randi is the BEST!

1. Yes, he was awesome...
and his talk was so moving that Randi said she was tearing up on air. I had tears in my eyes listening to him as well. That's at least one true Christian who has finally torn down the veil of lies and delusion. His book should be a great read. SG

2. i'm surprised no one else mentioned it...
everyone's always ready to criticize randi when she cuts off a caller
(usually somebody obnoxious...) but when something good happens, not
a peep!

it was shocking to agree with a christian conservative, wasn't it?

4. It's far more satisfying to complain than to praise

6. True
But I think most of us missed it because the stream was down.

I didn't hear it, so this will be a treat.

5. She's going to replay it
The stream went down yesterday, so lots of us didn't hear it. I didn't. Sounds as if I'm going to have to buy his book.

7. What Conserv Fundamentalists Fail To Understand is .....
Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 02:32 PM by Blackhatjack
... the greatest freedom of religion and most effective message of Christianity is to be totally separated from government and politics. When you mix the two, you adulterate the Christian message, and Christians find that government and politics always attempt to put limits and conditions on that message when you enter into an unholy alliance with them.

Look at the present scandal. How do you effectively present the Christian message to someone who sees the immorality committed and covered up by the Republicans in the present scandals, and then hear you recommend that they vote for that party? What are they to think when you say they cannot vote for a democrat and be a Christian? Totally perverted.

Jesus was right, "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's"

Christianity has nothing to do with supporting a political party.

If that party decides to address hunger, poverty, homelessness, etc. then that party has joined Christians in their work -- not the other way around.
