Do you have a My Space account?

I've noticed a huge trend with people my age (30-40ish) lately.

They all seem to be posting on myspace. Their kids have accounts too, and they all have each other on their friends lists. My roommate tends to use his as a dating site, but he blogs and posts alot of music too.

But myspace is a seething den of teenagers and perverts, right?


I'm considering starting my own page.



Is this a good idea, or am I just drunk? :shrug:

All I see when I go there is a list of likes. A list of friends, and a link to a blog that has zero content. And a comment section that usually contains : UR the FAG LLULZ... I just don't get myspace. Is it just that most people can't install Wordpress? Myspace gives them a little shithole on the web. Colour me confused.. And the next fucker that assumes I want audio when I go to your webpage will get a virtual cockpunch.

I use my myspace for evil. I mod a KO group, have a group for our political party, have a couple of fun political fakester profiles...

And i think you're correct about the myspace networks. There are a of politically aware adults who don't exactly like Bush. For what it is worth: Noam Chomsky on myspace has close to 25,000 friends.

It is not a seething den of perverts and teenagers (well its that too) There are over 100 million users, of every persuasion. Lots of progressive authors, radio hosts, and political activists have pages, including Jeffrey Feldman, Keith Olbermann, Sam Seder, etc. I've been posting Keith's commentaries on my page for awhile. It is a great way to reach a lot of people at once. Lots of potential democratic voters to reach.

We're in our mid (err.. late) 30s. She actually maintains a page for me too. It's a good way to keep tabs on the kids, but she is really into it herself. She's developed a lot of PC skills at the same time. I say go for it.
