Sam Sedar did what Stephanie Miller should have done
Jack Cafferty was a guest on Steph's show yesterday, and Sam's show today. In both shows he brought up the Harry Reid "scandal", which is nothing but a paperwork issue. And yet Jack treats it in the typical "they're all corrup" manner.

When he brought it up on Steph's show, she let it pass (I was hoping Jim Ward would have spoken up...)

When he brought it up on Sam's show, Sam pretty much slapped him down (and Jack wasn't happy), pointing out that there is no equivalence. Yet Jack continued to defend it as a scandal.

Two lessons:

1. Sam knows how to interview (I love Steph, but she has got to be more aggressive)
2. Jack Cafferty is still a Republican at heart, trying to make things out of nothing for Democrats.

1. You are overlooking one important fact......
Steph is just like Jon Stewart. Her "main" job is to be funny. Its actually secondary that she do serious interviews. She, like Jon, is in a very very difficult situation in that they must keep the humor in the show. Its not easy in times like these. YMMV

3. I know she's the funny girl, but...
She could have pulled a Jon Stewart and used a little snark to point out what Cafferty was doing (equivalence).

8. Jon Stewart at his best manages to be funny AND still challenge
his interviewee at the same time. Mind you, I have seen him roll over (Zell Miller, Santorum), but most of the time I think he's a really excellent interviewer: He lets his subject speak (Ms. Rhodes may please take note) but nevertheless manages to engage both the subject and the audience.

Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 11:03 PM by Phredicles
his best work - he asked some necessary questions but did not follow up.

For example, Ashcroft repeated the talking point that the good things happening in Iraq aren't being reported. A MUCH better "seat of heat" question would have been to see if he could name one.

32. She isn't funny?
You must be joking right? There are a very few show hosts that make me laugh so hard I nearly crash the car laughing...Lionel is one (at times), Neil Rogers in Miami and Steph Miller. Her show is one of the best written, well produced shows on the radio. What the hell does it take to make you laugh?

2. I thought it was Cafferty trying to be "balanced": Can't discuss
Rethug corruption without making sure you have Democratic corruption, too. Severely weak either way, of course.

5. I'm sure that is his intent, but one cannot "balance"
by equating a spitball with a bunker buster... That is the concept that so many in the MSM fail to understand..

4. Yes... I was impressed at how well Sam held his ground...
Cafferty's stock in trade is intimidating those who disagree with him--although I increasingly do agree with him, now that he's taken his blinders off. I think it is Sam's legal training, however brief, that has taught him how to question others--respectfully--but without backing down or letting them pull the wool over your eyes. He is quite good at that...

7. I heard it, and Cafferty was left mumblin' stumblin'. he didn't expect
Sam to actually know more than HE did.

he nailed that prick's ass to the wall with the HAstert/Ney comparisons

it was great

Cafferty is living in his own narrative, and reads his news selectively

the clincher was when Seder mentioned that Cafferty brought up REID, not Hastert, who stands to profit HUGELY from his land deal in a very very questionable manner.

Jacko did not like that

hahahaha, you smug prick. don't like it when you're exposed for your obvious prejudices, on top of inexcusable ignorance (at best), do you?

6. He was on Ed Schultz last night too
where he talked about politicians abusing the privilege to serve in congress. The two examples he used were Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd. And Ed just let him talk. I thought, what the hell was that? He couldn't think of one republican who has abused his congressional seat???????

11. I don't understand the DU love affair with Cafferty. He's called AAR
"commie radio" in the past, and although he's no fan of the Bush administration, is still a Republican.

direction of where he stood on this war..he would still be cheer leading this war..and he would still be slimming all of us, who from day one, said this was all lies..

he was rude, crude and downright mean to those of us who said this war was a lie..

there is only one person Jack Cafferty gives a damn about, and that is himself..and his paycheck!

fuck Jack Cafferty!

and how do i know that...??

i spent endless hours upon hours, with my large internet group sending him article after article of the truth..

the Cia retired spooks sent him the truth over and over again..and he called us all names..and was the town bully..

so fuck him now, when he is trying to save his own neck!!

that fucker criticized anyone who told the truth! and cruely, and with hateful passion!!

14. i am sorry..Jack Cafferty was one of the biggest cheerleaders for this war
others now can love him..but i will always leave him..he is not ..i repeat ..not on the side of truth..

he could have seen all of the same info we all did before this war of lies..he is just another one of the neo cons who see's his end coming..and he is trying to save his own ass!

i have argued this with others..till i am blue in the face...

the leopard does not change it's spots...unless money is involved and self preservation!

Jack was drooling all over himself for this war..he couldn't cheer lead hard enough..he could not criticize those of us who knew the truth and bothered to find out the facts ..bad enough...he criticized us and he debased himself over us..he slammed us every way to sunday...

so now he has had an epiphany?? he was lied to?? now he gets it?? oh bullshit..so now he is one of those he so tore apart..in every way??

his illuminating discovery has made him realize ..it was all lies??..

he gets no respect from me..not now...there are 250,000 dead Iraqi human beings...there are almost 3000 dead american soldiers..and 70,000 wounded soldiers...

too late Jack for your epiphany!! ...he can not scrub the blood off his hands as far as i am concerned..he earned the blood on his hands..and he got paid for it to boot..so i call him a blood thirsty whore!

thats all he is.. is a whore..a whore covered with the blood of many innocent human beings!

fuck Jack Cafferty...

i will always despise that murder loving liar!

I doubt any of us would disagree too strongly... I guess some of us are craving any level of honesty among these MSM assholes, that we give more benefit of the doubt than is perhaps warranted.

19. see i see it as Human beings..human beings who had their lives
snuffed out ..by liars..nothing but liars...

when someone lies to me..they have lost me for good...

period the end...

we can not put aside our values because someone throws us a bone..to undo the murder that was caused by their lies...

not now..not ever..

maybe some here were slow to the dance..and i understand that..many bought the lies..but many of us did not..

and many of us sought out truth sooner than others..that is human nature..i understand that..but these mother fuckers on our media..well damn it..they knew they were lying..

and if they didn't they chose not to..the truth and info was all out there..easily assessable..

hell i was a flight crew..i barely knew how to turn the computer on before 9/11 and if i could find the truth..why could Jack Cafferty not find the truth??

why could none of these talking heads not find the truth??

i started an internet group nation wide shortly after 9/11 ..i had people inside the media companies telling me when the people running the computers went off duty and we flooded the networks with the truth..i ran media blitzes on the internet.. we told them they were lying and telling them where to get the truth and we were sending them the truth..

they chose to look the other way..they wanted to look the other way..

a whole group of cia retired spooks tried to do press conferences and they were criticized and ridiculed..but never did the media show the press conferences..

Jack Cafferty was one of our targets..anfd he ignored the truth..he wanted to ignore the truth..
he drew a line in the sand..and called those of us fighting against this war..who were on the side of truth...nuts ..and cruel names..

so fuck him now..he gets no freedom from the blood letting he has helped cause...from me..

not now..not today , not tommorrow and not ever...

the blood of many innocent lives is on his hands..he has to live with that!!

and i will remind him of it as often as i can!..i will be his nightmare!
since he has no consience...he only gives a damn about his fucking paycheck!

28. One problem I have with Sam is that he can spend all of his 3 hour show
on Foley then spend 2 more days talking about NOTHING ELSE. It's way too much I had to turn him off for a while. There are way too many issues to focus on just one.

everyone is talking about rather than some of the more important issues. When he tangles with Republican callers he always nails them hard though. He is extremely quick with the facts and has good comebacks. His talent for winning a debate is incredible!

31. I love Sam. I am so looking forward to my XM radio delivery tomorrow
so I can hear him again when I'm driving to my various jobs.

The AAR station in Dallas was sold to some fundy Catholic orginaziton. So it's been streaming or White Rose or whatever. As long as AAR is on XM and on the air, I can still hear him instead of the stupid talk formats (even NPR is banal) that I can get on the car radio...

You go Sam.

(Now, if we could only get Mike back...like on XM....ahh...)
