Santorum Securing Lord Of The Rings Vote
Click here to read the latest stupidity from Santorum.

<snip>

Santorum, always the crafty one, hasn't given up. His latest tactic: trying to secure the Lord of the Rings vote.

"You have to really question the judgment of a U.S. Senator who compares the war in Iraq to a fantasy book," Casey spokesman Larry Smar said to the Herald Standard of Uniontown, Pa.

8. it's just the latest bit of fantasy ...
for Santorum during this campaign. He's made several fantastic claims about Casey along the way. Now he's crossed over to the dark side ...

4. Colbert went nuts with this last night
Had all the little action figures and everything. And his interview with (Kao?), the former White House religious guy, was priceless. And very revealing about the Bushies and their phoney religiosity.

5. I see what you mean...
"As the hobbits are going up Mount Doom, the Eye of Mordor is being drawn somewhere else," Santorum said before the Bucks County Courier Times editorial board late last week, describing the tool the evil Lord Sauron used in search of the magical ring that would consolidate his power over Middle-earth. "It's being drawn to Iraq and it's not being drawn to the U.S.," he continued. "You know what? I want to keep it on Iraq. I don't want the Eye to come back here to the United States."

:puke:

I am not a trained military stategist, but I would think that there are a lot of better ways to fight terrorists than to send American soldiers to Iraq to be used as decoys.

9. So, our troops = hobbits?
Not to diss Frodo and Samwise, but isn't that a little insulting to our troops?

17. Not at all. while the Hobbits can't slay a thousand
Orcs singlehandely ala Legolas or Aragorn, they do defeat the greatest evil ever. The Dark Lord Bus... I mean Saurobush...

19. if casey and santorum debate again ...
this would be great fodder.

Santorum makes this Lord of the Rings analogy, and then Casey responds:

"I've watched Frodo. I've read about Frodo. You sir, are no Frodo."

22. One of them - and I don't care who
Needs to make a commercial where they take the clip of Legolas saying, "They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!" which was set to an Irish drinking tune.

15. It's a long way from "man-on-dog"
It’s a long way from “man-on-dog” to “hobbit-on-dragon”.

Maybe soon it will be “man-on-Wookiee” or even “Holly-upon-Poppy” --?

Or, more likely, “Ricky-on-Unemployment”.

23. The character had a split personality in the movie.
The two sides of his personality were always arguing with each other. Ricky probably figures he could get both of Smeagle's personalities to vote for him.
