Heads up, DUers. Repubs trying to recall Louisiana Gov. Blanco (D)

Y'all remember how we pulled for her on election night? Well, it all may be down the drain, soon.

The Blanco recall may be one reason why Bush doesn't want to release his administration's Katrina correspondence. Blanco has become the scapegoat for the failures, and the recall effort would fizzle out if the truth is ever known. Right now, Bush has his minions blaming all the errors on Blanco (of course, he would never blame Mississippi gov. Haley Barbour for his errors, because Barbour is a Republican). Bush's supporters have even created a kind of mythology about the whole hurricane business--most of the substance of which is outright lies. As long as there's a Democrat in power who can be blamed for all of the Katrina mistakes, Bush is safe from the worst criticism.

So let's throw Kathleen Blanco out on her bum. And replace her with a Republican.

:grr: :grr:

I traveled through southeast Louisiana last week, and I saw numerous red and white "RECALL BLANCO" bumper stickers. It looks like this effort is gaining support. :(

All the more reason for Landrieu to get a grip...don't you think?

Peace.

2. Well, I hope she fights back with everything she's got.
She should know by now how the game is played. I am not surprised at all by this nasty little maneuver on the part of bush apologists. I wonder who gave the "call to action."

5. I am afraid it is going strong
I am in North LA and every time I go to a store or mall, there is a table there collecting signatures. Someone came to my door yesterday. It looks bad.

6. read about this recall
a couple of weeks back on a righty blog(via Daou), this blog was touting the recall as astute politics for the GOP because most of the Democratic base had been "dispersed" Really I did not think they would go quite that low. However on the upside they need 900,000+ signatures
Check out NOLA.com key word(s) recall blanco
I would provide a link but honestly not good at it.

10. Welcome to DU! And yes, that is exactly why they are doing it. All of
the normally Dem voters have been "dispersed" and have no way of voting for or against Blanco. The rest of the state knows it.

8. and if she's recalled, Mitch Landrieu becomes governor
Recall Blanco, and Mitch becomes governor, making him the incumbent in the general election in 2007. Which is why, according to my friends in Louisiana, the establishment repubs aren't backing this idea.

12. Only temporarily
Landrieu would step in only until the special election.
