In our weekly newspaper in Kearney, Mo there is a piece you won't |
|
believe. I had to read it twice and then have my husband read it.
I'm sorry, our paper is Very small and I don't think I can pick something up on line from "The Courier", but I wouldn't know how to post it anyway. Take a look at this.
"Poll workers needed Nov. 7
The Clay County Election Board is looking for poll workers especially Republicans, independents and other party members willing to substitute as Republicans.
About 25 to 30 people are needed to work the Tuesday, Nov 7, general election, said Dave Reinhart, Republican director of elections."
There is a little more in the small piece abaout pay...but isn't this a good sign? This was on page A2 of our small weekly paper.
WOW. They will pay $20 for training and $110 to work for one day from 5:a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on election day.
Yahoooo....

Repubs aren't willing to sit there at the polls identified as such now?

3. I'm gonna play devil's advocate here |

The county may have enough democrats already signed up to work. I hope I'm not wrong.

6. This isn't the first info on trouble getting Republican poll workers. |
|
There was something here about it a week or so ago, someplace else.
Lotta Dems this year. Republicans don't seem to have the heart for it. Or maybe all those young college Republicans enlisted and had to go to Iraq.

7. I heard the young republicans |
|
were heading to the Salinas Valley to pick produce to strengthen their argument against immigration.
Funny, but way down here in South (Red State) Mississippi we've never had a problem getting democrats to work on election day. We just can't get rid of trent.

14. You know Republicans - they won't volunteer for anything. |
|
Won't go to serve in that war they like so much and won't sit at the polls.

5. I just called Clay County Election Board and the lady was very |
|
nice. She said we do have a director for Democratic and she said, "Why did the paper say we only needed Republicans?" I said, "Yes it did". She said kind of to herself and to me "They shouldn't have done that.".
So I said, "Well can I take that to be a good sign then?" She laughed with me and said I could volunteer for the Democratic, and I told it would HAVE TO BE FOR DEMOCRATIC. (By the way I worked for the Clay County Campaign for Kerry in Kansas City, and plan to get involvedagain.,
By the way, this lady agreed with me about "It would have to be for the democratic party". There IS a lite at the tunnel.

12. Thanks! I was wondering if they were trying to get teams of people |
|
to challenge voters or something even more nefarious. I never put anything past them anymore, even though I suspected it was something reasonable.

shipped off to a critical polling stations - to act as door pounders or to help 'techinician-fixers'?
