If this is true, it's over. So far Dems were looking at about 14 guaranteed seats and 20 more in play. This is basically the 15th seat, whether Weller resigns (there's no chance they could get a replacement on the ballot this late in the race) or he remains in office and is defeated badly.

Colorado - 1
Arizona - 1
Iowa - 1
Ohio - 2
Pennsylvania - 2
Florida - 1
Minnesota - 1
New York - 2
Connecticut - 1
Indiana - 2
Illinois - 1

Game fucking over GOP.
GOP - Game Over, Perverts? Bah, I'm not that clever.

2. Less cockiness, please. There's almost 3 weeks till the election.
Let's not be doing the stutter steps in the end zone just yet. The most important part of the game is yet to be played: Getting Out The Vote.

19. That is the number of seats Indiana will gain for the House
3......anyway the prospect of gaining control of the House is looking better day by day..I think there are seats all across the country that we could win but being ignored by the DCCC because the Democratic candidate don't necessarily hold the lead right now and the DCCC will not support these candidates vs higher priority races. All they need is a little financial boost..The 6th district in Indiana is a prime example

5. This is just icky. I'm sorry but these are kids getting exploited
Why the fuck did the repukes think this was okay to hide? Beyond the whole trying to keep hold of power thing, it's sexual harassment at the office, it's molestation, it's high school teenagers being exploited, it's just dead wrong.

(doing small happy dance at what this may mean for Dems controlling Congress but jayzus, feeling guilty doing it on the backs of these teens....)

24. the only ones that should feel guilty are those that abused their position
and power of office. Neither you nor any of the pages or anyone that is disgusted by their behaviour has any reason for guilt. Besides that that is not the only issue involved, if only it were so.

The GOP are not failing because of the (latest) sex-scandal, it's because of the litany of sleaze, corruption and abuse of power. Bush nullified habeus corpus after the Foley story broke and after the extent of the cover-up became public.

The republicans are losing because they are conscienciousless and greedy hypocrites.

as long as your opponent is living, breathing and has their name on the ballot, you run like there's no tomorrow, because there isn't.

9. Weller is a strange fellow
This is from his bio: "The needs of the 11th District drive Weller’s legislative agenda. For example, when it was brought to his attention, in 1996, that an internet predator had targeted a constituent’s daughter, he acted quickly to combat the technology-based threat. Weller introduced the Protecting Children from Internet Predators Act of 1997. With some adjustment, this legislation was included in the Child Protection and Sexual Predator Punishment Act, which made it illegal to use the internet to transmit identifying information of a child to encourage, offer or solicit sexual activity."

Good cover if he was ever accused like Foley.

Also he is married. From his bio: "Weller lives in Morris, Illinois, with his wife Guatemalan Congresswoman Zury Rios Sosa. On August 17th, 2006 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Marizú Catherine Weller."

This about his wife:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2004-11-21-congressman-guatemalan-wed_x.htm?csp=34

Illinois congressman weds daughter of former dictator
ANTIGUA, Guatemala (AP) — They met during a trade mission, and despite controversy over their engagement, U.S. Rep. Jerry Weller of Illinois and the outspoken daughter of former Guatemalan dictator Efrain Rios Montt tied the knot Saturday in a civil ceremony.

"Weller's opponents criticized the engagement because Rios Montt, a retired general who seized control of Guatemala for 18 months in 1982-83, is accused of leading one of the bloodiest campaigns in the nation's 36-year civil war, which killed 200,000 people.

Rios Montt, twice elected president of the legislature after his dictatorship, is under house arrest in the capital, Guatemala City, 30 miles southeast of Antigua.

He faces charges of organizing a violent and chaotic protest that saw thousands of his supporters overrun the capital in July 2003, decrying a court order blocking him from running for president.

A journalist had a heart attack and died while covering the riots and dozens of people were injured. Rios Montt, who has denied organizing the protests, was eventually allowed to seek the presidency, but he was defeated soundly at the polls.

The former dictator attended his daughter's wedding after obtaining permission to travel outside Guatemala City from a judge overseeing the case against him."

What a very strange fellow this Weller.

10. This may also be important because...
it demonstrates to Republicans that the Page/pedophilia issue extends beyond Foley and may be a symptom of a larger aspect of the culture of corruption. I was hoping it might ensnare Hastert since he was involved in attempting to cover this up. This issue should not be associated with the outing of gay Republicans either, but keep in mind that the corruption aspect involves not only pedophilia but also the exploitation of underlings.

and until it does break it's still speculation, so lets not get our hopes up too high.

Been down this road before. This is not "breaking news" until it's news that has broken -- this story is simple rumor mongering.

15. Sketchy diary
This is the whole Daily Kos diary:

"Gonna have to trust me on this, but I have fantastic information that Weller R-IL (11th District) is the next one coming down in the page scandal. Can't reveal source.

Look at his web page and picture though... he sort of looks like a leerer.

I will post on this shortly with more news... but start asking questions and this one will start to resonate....

As for me, remember I had the jump on the media when Sandra Day OcOnnor resigned... look it up if you want

There are other people who have mentioned this on the site, so i figured I would come out and just post. see GimmeBush's comment that not many people seemed to pick up on... He referred to Weller in the lower main page (the other shoe post)... but i dont know who he is and im almost positive we would have a different source... but thats the story that I have... sorry I cant back it up anymore."

Sort of reminds me of a teenager posting "scoops" about alleged bombs at the NFL games.

Looks like Weller was the one to refer another incident rather than being the one reported. That is if you believe a Republican.

Here's the source of the TPM story:
