All this news of Pedophiles... |
|
And their "christian, Boy Scout Leaders, Priestly animals really, really makes me sick! The only thing good about them, if there is a good thing, is that, the news exposure has definitely made some repugs change parties! Maybe we should remind the freepers, hey do you really want a bunch of sickies running the country?!

3. That's what happens when you follow a religion |
|
that requires you to repress your sexuality.

4. One thing to keep in mind.... |
|
The people being charged with pedophilia and child predation are, almost every last one, devoutly Christian married men of proven heterosexuality who have always voted Repuglican.
I tell you, it makes me proud to be a gay atheist liberal. :hi:

What we're doing isn't working. In more ways than one.

The difference today is that people are talking about it.
When I was in college in the early 1970s, I knew two guys who confessed to me that they had received unwanted attentions from Boy Scout leaders. They did not know each other.
At the time, they were the ones that felt wrong and guilty. Neither of them would have told their parents, because the parents would refuse to listen about an "unmentionable" subject. I'm sure a great deal of this kind of stuff went on, but it was a taboo subject.

7. the truth of pedophiles, and ALL who use sex to |
|
dominate and oppress others is- "They" are everywhere- and anyone. This stain on humanity is an equal opportunity destroyer- The prevalence of pedophiles in organizations that revolve around children, or where children (are) were left with less ....'vigilance' than the average situation is a 'no-brainer'.
Like saying foxes seem far more common around chicken houses than rabbits do.
There ARE Dems who abuse- But the absolute hypocrisy of the 'Foley' affairs- ( chairman of the House Caucus on Missing and Exploited Children!!) is particularly poignant.
The Repubs CLAIM to be the party of moral superiority- when the facts don't support this-
It is the hypocrisy, the "we are the party of upstanding morality" when in reality neither party can claim immunity to having deviant and destructive members- that will kill the Repubs- if there is ANY shred of justice, or integrity left in this country.
I despise the abuse of people of ALL kinds- especially those who have little voice, or choice. I'm also willing to be honest enough to say the abuse crosses all societal lines- including politics.

8. Well, remember, the Boy Scouts (with the Repukes' blessing) don't |
|
let gays in ... so any child molested or forced into kiddie porn by a Boy Scout leader has been done so by a person who CHOSE to do that ... and was hetero ...

9. One of the WORST things about this ... |
|
... is the impact on those who'd be outstanding working with kids. As a single guy, I pale at the thought that working with kids would make me vulnerable to some witch-hunting zealot. I loved teaching kids and I loved coaching kids and I loved counseling kids ... and soothed my own disappointment in not having any of my own kids with the prospect of doing volunteer work. I lived in eastern Washington when the East Wenatchee witch-hunts were coming to a conclusion -- and it was fucking scary. I don't think I have the courage to risk it anymore.
I remember a few years back sitting in the hot tub with a very good (female) friend of mine one evening (wearing suits, for once). Her grandkids (4, 6, and 8) had come to visit and decided they were going to join us. So, they stripped naked and jumped in - 2 boys and 1 girl (the eldest) - splashing and giggling. The total innocence and joy of the moment was polluted by my concerns - and I had to stretch my arms out wide AND BEHIND ME, over the outside edge of the hot tub. I love those kids. There were so many times over the years when they'd happily run up and put a hug on my neck that would made my entire day GREAT that I could never thank them enough. But a warm evening of joy and innocent abandon got salted with the shadow of pedophiles lurking under the bed. It's sad.
