downplaying the coalition commanding general's press conference, in which he said Operation Forward Together (we stand down as they run away) is a failure?

he said it's typical of any war, in which tactics change all the time

do they ever show him the indignation they constantly displayed toward Scotty?

I don't know if it is because of his past illness, his past employment, demeanor, or what-but as you say, he is allowed to make the most outrageous case. They would have tarred & feathered poor Scotty, quite literally! There were days I felt sorry for him (really). I mean, nowadays I wait for David Gregory, Helen Thomas, or someone to leap to their feet and scream: "ENOUGH!"
