Had a nice lesson on illegal immigration today.
An illegal immigrant hit my new car. The illegal immigrant didn't have insurance, driver's license or registration. The cops impounded the illegal immigrant's car for 30 days and now the poor thing has to walk, probably meaning job loss. I am out five hundred smakeroos on my deductible to fix my car. I am totally digusted. We need to fix the root problem people. Mexico needs to pay a livable wage with assistance from their government, not ours. Our cooperate America needs to assist, otherwise our problems continue to worsen here. If illegals come here to work for 5 bucks an hour, how are they going to afford car mandated car insurance, registration and for that matter state identification or driver's license? And in my state the public transportations sucks so badly one needs a car to get to work. The poor thing has three children to feed and probably no job now to feed them. Turning left across 5 lanes of traffic didn't help her either. Eye yi yi... Yeah I know, no habeas corpus is a bigger issue tonight as it should be with anyone that has half a brain cell, but this issue should have the richies attention. Maintenance of their standard of living can't be accomplished through the illegal blow hole that I experienced today and I'm just one of the little guys who lives payday to payday. Think I'll have a drink and wonder about the sicheeation.

1. We tried to pass a law in California so immigrants could get
Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 08:09 PM by Cleita
driver's licenses just because these things were happening that happened to you. No questions would be asked about their legal status to get a license just the usual driving tests and insurance requirements. The reason for the law was so that they would have to have insurance and a vehicle that is safe to drive. But, the bigots shot it down. The biggest bigot was Arnold, our Governor, who was once an illegal immigrant himself. But these are the things that happen when people can't set their prejudices aside to come up with some common sense solutions to problems that arise that can't be helped.

3. Last I heard he was seventeen points behind Arnold.
However, he's doing more ads now. The problem is that the dems just don't have the financing the rich Repigs have.

8. This is such BS so close to an election!
NBC responded that since Schwarzenegger’s appearance was considered an “official governor’s visit,” the segment was a news event and, therefore, not subject to equal time provisions. The broadcast aired as planned.

I'm going to write Leno about it. Thanks for the link.

16. I don't understand the urban Californians voting for him, but
we have miles and miles of rural areas populated with the same redneck types you will find in Texas. And our rural areas are far more vast than the urban areas. California is a pretty big state but with everything in it, mountains, lakes, deserts, plains and oceans and a population that is just as varied. However, the Repigs reign supreme in the agricultural, forest and desert areas. They convince all the idiots to vote against their interests like anywhere else in middle America. It's the cities that have the educated liberals who keep California somewhat blue.

5. Pity the illegal's home country can't pay up for their citizen's stupidity
Having each country do its part would lessen the number of illegals and everything bad that comes out of it; this is not a simple situation.

Like you said, Mexico needs to reform itself so people won't want to flee. Every illegal hurts many people; themselves included. Are these governments so "proud" they don't care if people flee?! That's TRAGIC. For many reasons.

It is said that Christianity is about helping people to help themselves, or so I've been told. They come here and nobody's helping them to help themselves. They're people who only want to help themselves, being used by people who only want to help themselves. And don't understand the irony. And all that helps NOBODY in the end. Not even themselves, but they don't know it at the time. And I speak for both the corporate execs and the illegals.

12. The problem is that the country is owned by five rich families.
I'm afraid it will take a revolution to get rid of them. We could impose sanctions I suppose on Mexico to make them come up with a solution, but I don't know if that's so good either. It's always the poor who suffer from sanctions, not the evil bastards who own everything. The poorer they get, the more tempting it is to cross the border.

7. Just wait til the states....
have to comply with the new hoomeland security requirements. In Texas they estimate a driver's license will go up to over $120. At 5/hour that means it will take one day of work just to pay for the thing-God knows what all the fake documentation will set you back.;)

22. Maybe we could quit spending money on Iraq
and send that 100 billion to subsidize Mexico. But we'll give it to the poor families so that the richies won't see as much benefit.
