Republican Officials concede they could lose 23-27 house seats
http://time-blog.com/allen_report/2006/10/how_republicans_hope_to_hold_t.html

Republican officials now concede they could lose a net of 23 to 27 seats in the House, that higher figure being close to twice the 15 Democrats would need to take control. Democrats would need six seats to take control of the Senate, and Republican officials tell TIME they see several scenarios for warding that off. One Republican strategist close to the White House gave this forecast: "We're going to lose Pennsylvania, Ohio and Rhode Island. That's three. Virginia, I think we hold. Tennessee, I think we hold. I'm less certain we're going to hold Missouri and I'm least certain we hold Montana. But to take control, Democrats have to win three of those four, and that's unlikely." If Democrats picked up five, the chamber would be 50-50, guaranteeing frequent appearances by Vice President Cheney as President of the Senate.

Some White House officials became convinced that the House might be lost after they saw polls showing the page scandal had brutalized Republican approval ratings, and one senior party official says that's also part of the reason that the party's hold on the Senate is in such peril. "I kind of see the Foley thing as the tipping point," the official said. "People are just unhappy already and that just did it."

2. TN, VA, and MO have plenty of polls within the margin of error,
...but zero-to-few polls with the Democrat leading outside the margin of error.

20. All of TN's polls have been Ford leading even though it is w/in the margin
Ford has the momentum and if the election were held today I think that conventional wisdom says that he would win. That being said, there's the possibility that there simply aren't enough undecideds in Tennesee willing to vote for a black candidate.

3. Well, I've done my part!
I have an all-day retreat on the 7th, so was worrying about getting to the poll. My secretary reminded me today that Illinois has "early voting", and that it's already started. So, I went to the County Clerk's office this afternoon, and cast my ballot. Take that, Chimp-boy and your Rethug minions! I especially enjoyed voting against my current US Congressman, a Hastert clone by the name of Jerry Weller. I truly hate this man, and his wife and her Guatemalan dictator father.

I've done what I could!

10. Then you'll be happy to know Jerry Weller's going down the drain
with Mark Foley. He appears to be the next one implicated in the page predators and enablers scandal.

8. "I kind of see the Foley thing as the tipping point,"
In all modesty, I saw that right away.

And then I saw pundits telling me that it was a blessing for repukes because it drove Woodwards book off the news cycle. Idiots.

and miscellaneous other criminals, we could take 50. I say BRING IT ON.

The current Repub. Gov is going pretty quietly. Soon we'll have a brand new Democratic Gov... it'll be nice.

I wish I could say it was pure stupidity on their part, but I have an awful feeling that ain't the reason they are so confident.

23. TWENTY SEVEN? FIFTY SEVEN!
If the scandals keep coming (esp. if that IL. rep gets fingered as having sex with a girl as some have suggested) they'll lose a HECK of a lot more than 20some...

You can't rig (without major backlash) major disapproval. and in the process, we'll get a dem. majority and secure voting...

I'm very HOPEFUL. Not confident. Hopeful!
