1. I used to live in Idaho and I loved it, but |

politically, the most Democrats I met and I could have held a meeting in a phone booth. However, they aren't such big Republicans either. Most are independents, vote for the man, that kind of thinking. The Republicans have co-opted them in a big way because they know how to appeal to them. It's time for the Democrats to change the argument in their favor. There is a lot to talk about because the poverty is pretty abysmal in many of the areas.

they had a small committed group of liberals in her community. She's a public school teacher, and she said that they were way outnumbered, but it was good to hang around like minded people and work for change. Apparently, they still have a lot of work in front of them.

7. Yep, and funny thing is No One I talk with likes * - no one I've talked to |

voted for him or admits to voting for him in 2004. I get into a lot of political conversations, and tend to warn people "I'm no fan of W" and they respond "I Know" "I didn't vote for him, he's an idiot" and sometimes even "how the hell did he get into office?"
It confuses the heck out of me. They're especially pissed off about his treatment of the national parks and such. I do live pretty close to Boise so that may be a factor. There are complaints that there's not a Democratic choice in many races here, though. We need to change that. BTW, it's beautiful country out here, wide open spaces, scenic mountain views all over the place, don't be afraid - we could always use a few more liberals.

The yard signs in the urban areas are 98% democrat. The rural areas are showing no yard signs.

where I am, 30 miles outside Boise. It's not just some kids dying, it's THEIR kids. I really have my fingers crossed this is the sea change, even here. OTOH I'm afraid of counting the chickens before they're hatched.
