Judge orders Cheney visitor logs opened

Any bets Jeff Gannon frequently visited around 11:30 pm and left at 6:00 am?

By MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writer Thu Oct 19, 5:36 PM ET

WASHINGTON - A federal judge has ordered the Bush administration to release information about who visited Vice President
Dick Cheney's office and personal residence, an order that could spark a late election-season debate over lobbyists' White House access.

While researching the access lobbyists and others had on the White House, The Washington Post asked in June for two years of White House visitor logs. The
Secret Service refused to process the request, which government attorneys called "a fishing expedition into the most sensitive details of the vice presidency."

U.S. District Judge Ricardo M. Urbina said Wednesday that, by the end of next week, the Secret Service must produce the records or at least identity them and justify why they are being withheld.

1. I hope the Judge added the word "un-redacted" to his order..
otherwise, the Wasp mafia will play the National Security Trump card.

3. I thought EX Privilege was reserved solely for the Chief Ex..
Did Spiro Agnew have Ex Privilege ?

"The Secret Service can still try to withhold the records but, in a written ruling Thursday, Urbina questioned the agency's primary argument — that the logs are protected by Cheney's right to executive privilege."[/i\

5. The only executive privilege he has now
is to turn them over or face contempt. But of course, they will appeal and lose.

These marsh dwellers hatched in a swamp.

13. Well, the GAO could request the logs as well..
relating to the Energy meetings

The logs may not give specific information but it would have the numbers of
ins and outs..and could lead to interrogatories from another perspective.

9. No, that was a screw job he took all the way to the SCOTUS
and they ruled he didn't have to as to who was there or the minutes.

When we have subpoena power, we can rip him a new rectum.

Republican activists Grover Norquist and Ralph Reed, political allies of President Bush and longtime Abramoff associates, totaled more than 100 visits to the Bush White House. "

Edited on Fri Oct-20-06 12:09 AM by Marr
I don't see why they wouldn't do the same here. The judge left room for an appeal there, and I don't see why this wouldn't just worm it's way through the legal system until someone let's Cheney off the hook. I mean, correct me if I'm wrong- I'd love to be wrong here, and I'm no lawyer.
