The damage has been done, what if anything can a Dem led congress
or senate repair the sorry state of affairs we find our country in. Will they have the will and strength of character to fix or mitigate these problems? I hope the new blood entering the main political arenas can invigorate our party. Will bush* and darth cheney be held to account for the lies, theft and deaths caused by their egotistical and megalomaniacal leadership?

just a late nite thought and one I'm sure you're thinking too.

2. song lyrics

Christmas In Washington
(Steve Earle)
It's Christmastime in Washington
The Democrats rehearsed
Gettin' into gear for four more years of
Things not gettin' worse
The Republicans drink whiskey neat
And thanked their lucky stars
They said, 'He cannot seek another term
They'll be no more FDRs'

I sat home in Tennessee
Staring at the screen
With an uneasy feeling in my chest
And I'm wonderin' what it means

Chorus:
So come back Woody Guthrie
Come back to us now
Tear your eyes from paradise
And rise again somehow
If you run into Jesus
Maybe he can help you out
Come back Woody Guthrie to us now

I followed in your footsteps once
Back in my travelin' days
Somewhere I failed to find your trail
Now I'm stumblin' through the haze
But there's killers on the highway now
And a man can't get around
So I sold my soul for wheels that roll
Now I'm stuck here in this town

Chorus

There's foxes in the hen house
Cows out in the corn
The unions have been busted
Their proud red banners torn
To listen to the radio
You'd think that all was well
But you and me and Cisco know
It's going straight to hell

So come back, Emma Goldman
Rise up, old Joe Hill
The barracades are goin' up
They cannot break our will
Come back to us, Malcolm X
And Martin Luther King
We're marching into Selma
As the bells of freedom ring

3. I'm thinking I've got work to do. When we actually TAKE one or both of the
house we will be having passionate discussions about fixing the horrific damage inflicted by the cabal.

I know it's discouraging, but please remember a few years ago when the cabal's leaders, followers and propagandists walked in lockstep and we all wondered...:wtf:

Now, the window has opened a bit and I'm throwing myself into doing what I can to change the direction of our country.

4. I think the ability to control committees and reestablish oversight
on the Bush kleptocracy will mitigate a lot of the financial abuses of late. I expect some investigations into the subcontracts issued under the guise of national security and a few more set of eyes focused on the federal Departments, which have been blatantly politicized, cronyized and undermined from their original mandate. Additionally, funding for the war in Iraq, outside of the contractor scams, seems a likely agenda.

Off the top of my head, that's a good plate of work.

Other possibilities?

6. The republicans are afraid
A progressive government can fix all these nightmares, really.

Democratic committment to progressive is the real issue,
and it helps explain why you're concerned that a dem congress
could solve things... its progressivity is low.

8. or the old blood to wake up
I'm very happy with the old blood. They are smart chappies, and if the democrats
could get back of top of things around here, i would be very goddang pleased.. to say the least.

"new and improved" is not necessarily true in politics.
"Tried and proven" is what we want.

9. First : Shut down the War
This is primarily because the war is a blood splattered illegal adventure that has set back our PR 1000 years with the Arabs.
It will also force the chimp and his handlers to keep pushing the war in the open, applying steady damage to the Republican Party.
Also : Shut down the corporate Welfare. This will naturally begin as the war is shut off. It is completely unacceptable that we are paying taxpayer subsidies to Big Business.
They will fight us on this too. It should make them look great on the tube, fighting to keep payoffs rolling into the Oil companies.
And: Break up the media monopolies that have helped lead us into this hole. This catastrophe would have never occurred without the willing participation of the main stream media.
There are thousands of other issues to address. these curs have done immense damage.
But shutting down the war and slapping back the disloyal big business that love it is where we have to start.

10. (s)
That be plural. As i'm reading "Hegemony or Survival", the wars and systemic terrorism
range from the war on drugs, to any war reason to meddle in the affirs of a lot of other
people. The ugly police state must go down.
