At Charlotte Airport I saw a whole bunch of newly minted Soldiers.
I'd had a 2 hour layover at the airport and must have counted at least 300 brand spanking new soldiers walk by... There's a couple of basis near by, most notably the base that I myself attended for boot camp, Ft Jackson---and that was about 30 years ago.

Anyway---I couldn't help notice how incredibly young these kids are. Acne is the dead give-a-way since 90 percent of them had it.

I gotta tell you, I got a huge lump in my throat when I thought of what these kids were about to go through.

Cannon fodder for crazy men. It breaks my heart.

2. They'll age fast once they get in country.

But, it's a hell of a way to grow up.

4. If they survive.
Plus, how many will they kill?

6. Believe me, they'll feel much older first.
The first time you walk out the gate and out into what the perimeter guards are guarding against your life as a adolescent is left behind.

3. Its a common sight down
in Atlanta Hartsfield too. We Citizens will typically applaud them as they walk through the airport. Brave young people being asked to fight the wrong war in Iraq, makes me sick.

7. I refuse to applaud them
I see them too down here in Georgia, and feel sorry for what they are going to go through. But they are carrying out Bushco's orders. They are part of the reason why 600,000 iraqi's have died in 3 years. They keep the madness going. And they chose, for whatever reason, to support this, as no-one can say they haven't heard that there is a war going on. I wonder what things would be like if no-one signed up. We would be forced to face up to the costs of this insanity as a nation.

8. Keep in mind that these are young kids
and many are seeking an escape from something.

9. I know
and many of them are under the influence of propaganda. But they are still instruments of an evil policy. And, unfortunately, whatever they are escaping from is likely to be far less horrible than what they are going to.
