What is wrong with us? As Ameircans?
Just what the FU*K is wrong with us???? How can any of us just sit and listen to someone, a Priest no less, say something like this:

MIAMI, Florida (CNN) -- A priest whom former Rep. Mark Foley reportedly accused of molestation almost four decades ago said Thursday that he fondled the lawmaker as a teen, but the priest said it wasn't abuse because Foley "seemed to like it."

"Once maybe I touched him or so, but didn't, it wasn't -- because it's not something you call, I mean, rape or penetration or anything like that you know. We were just fondling," Father Anthony Mercieca, 69, said in a phone interview with CNN affiliate WPTV from his home on the Maltese island of Gozo in the Mediterranean.

Why do we hear this, and shout out our meer disaproval and go back to our dinner, t.v., book, whatever we were doing, and not shout out and actually do somethingabout the total outrage that we, as Americans, should?? Have we become those same sheeple that we accuse the right of being? Oh, it's o.k., he "just" fondled him, and besides, he "seemed to like it". The lesser of two evils just does not cut it with child abuse. I am angry with all of us.

1. People are too busy in their little protected lives
with all its myths of exceptionalism and the dream that with the next tax cut, they will certainly win the lottery.

2. I find the apathy comforting, actually
I dread mass outrage, no matter what the crime. I don't like lynch mobs and I don't believe in sacrificing the innocent to get to the guilty.

3. Some of us can't even spell "Americans" too good
;)

I restrict my anger to the actual perpetrators. Makes it easier for me to get off my duff some days.
It might also help to think about all the good people do, just as a balance to that sort of evilness.

6. I think it's because since the pedophile scandals
within the church came to light a few years ago, this is what we expect to hear. It isn't shocking anymore. (Doesn't make it any less sick though. Still turns my stomach.)

8. I am even more pissed with Foley
for not speaking up sooner to do something to stop this pederast.
How many other children were molested because Foley wanted to pursue a closeted Congressional career?
