Hours after release, Internet Explorer 7 flaw exposed
Frank Washkuch Jr. Oct 19 2006 18:09

Just hours after the latest version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser was released, its first vulnerability was disclosed to the public.

The flaw in Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7), discovered today by Secunia, can be exploited by malicious users to disclose sensitive information, according to the vulnerability monitoring firm.

The flaw is caused by an error in redirection handling for URLs with the mhtml: URI handler, according to an advisory posted by Secunia today that calls the flaw "less critical."

Internet explorer was released earlier this week with the promise of increased protection from phishing attacks and other threats.

2. Gee, it sure is a good thing that Mr. Gates just sells crap
computer software. If he dealt in automobiles or medical supplies or food stuff, he would have killed off half the planet by now.

3. But sometimes you'd be able to fix your car just by rebooting!

And you could play Solitaire at red lights!

5. I HATE IE, put another dime in gates bank baby...
Remember you'll have to upgrade to get the full crapiness of windoze vista, to fully "enjoy" IE.

This is why I use firefox!

8. The "official" Firefox 2 is rumored to arrive by the end of this month...
...not the betas or "release candidate" versions that have been available for a while. Something tells me that the steps Microsoft took to play "catch up" won't really matter when Firefox 2 is available.

6. Typical Microsoft M.O. -
just get the product on the shelves and charge customers extra time and money for the new "fixes."

It's an old ploy but one that has made Microsoft very, very rich.

7. Bill REALLY ought to outsource his security bug tests
to real script kids so this embarrassing (and predictable) shit does not happen.

And, since it is not my company, and since my two cents worth are only valuable to me, people would be FIRED today if it WERE my company.
