Tucker/Cosby Out at MSNBC??
From FTVLive:

Tucker is Toast at MSNBC

"FTVLive FIRST told you that NBC would make huge budget cuts and we have learned EXCLUSIVELY that Political Pundit Tucker Carlson is one of those that will be cut.

NBC sources tell FTVLive that Carlson will be one of those that losses his job as NBC undertakes massive budget cuts at all of their properties.

NBC sources also tell FTVLive that Rita Cosby will also be part of the budget cuts at MSNBC as well.

Although FTVLive was able to confirm the Carlson news through two NBC sources, we have only got the Cosby news from one tipster.

Stay tuned, we can assure you that Carlson and Cosby won't be the last on air people to get a pink slip."

fluffer

Pornographic film industry employee who is responsible for keeping male performers aroused (usually via oral sex) between takes during a shoot.

:rofl::rofl:

10. Cosby should be unemployed. What an irritation.
Carlson is kind of a sad case. He got flushed from CNN because his show sucked. So, he took a big dive and landed at MSNBC opposite The Daily Show. I've glanced at his show a couple of times, and it simply offers nothing that appeals to me.

He's a smart guy who is simply struggling to find a place to land.

39. Am I kidding? No.
Yes, intelligence is all relative. Considering I don't have Carlson's IQ or SAT scores in front of me, my assessment of his intelligence is also subjective.

He's not a windsock any more than P.J. O'Rourke. Sometimes the opinions of certain people are more relevant than at other times. We don't need an intellectual analysis of the Bush administration because there's no there there. And the Democrats are intentionally providing nothing to analyze, so folks on the right with brains are left to twiddle their thumbs.

finish his degree. I think he only had 2 years to go. With the $ he's made off of TV
he could afford to go anywhere he wants.

On edit: looks like he attended college for 4 years but didn't earn a degree:

"Carlson completed private secondary education at St. George's School, Newport, Rhode Island. He then attended Trinity College in Connecticut for four years without obtaining a degree. Carlson describes his college experience thus:

"After four years, I had met a lot of interesting people, gone to a couple of classes and restored a motorcycle, and that was it. And so I wasted my time at college."

with ProfessorGAC, Tucker isn't dumb by any means, he just buys into his own BS too much. While I didn't agree with his analysis a majority of the time he was actually a decent writer prior to his TV career. It all went downhill with the unproductive screamfest that was Crossfire.

21. Carlson Can Now Pursue His Real Talent--Selling Bowties!!
Since his days on Crossfire, it has become obvious that Carlson is an empty suit when it comes to real political analysis. He adopted a pro-Republican stance on all issues, put on the blinders, and attempted to talk over anyone else who had the audacity to disagree with his alleged "superior intellect."

He deserves to work for a living at a real job --then maybe he would begin to understand how most people are affected by this Administration's policies protecting the super-rich and corporations.

The sooner he leaves the better .....

...and please take Rita Cosby with him.

55. The $64,000 question is who will replace them? Okay, BowTie Boy
and Gravel Gerty are gone - what will fill those times slots?

I could take an extra hour or two (or three!) of Keith, cut back Tweety's job to holding the cue cards for Keith, and send Dead Intern to the green room to keep Keith's guest's coffee cups fresh.

There are several hours to fill with BowTie Boy and Gravel Gerty gone, would they bring back Phil Donahue? How about giving Rachel Maddow a show? Who do we want to see in those time slots?

And something that has been bothering me for weeks...has anyone noticed how much time Tweety spends promoting his own damn show day after day? He constantly plugs his own work like he is an idiot savant of journalism (idiot, of course, savant, not in his dreams on his best night). He keeps saying "the best" or "the most" or "the only" talking about his show as if his show is the holy grail of political discourse. Right after that he throws in some disparaging remark about Hillary, the obligatory put down of disorganized or losing Dems and then plugs his show again. One night I tried to keep count of how many times he plugged his show during interviews with a guests. I gave up after eight in the first half hour. I just tune him out now and watch reruns of Dharma and Greg. The man should have his arm in a sling from patting himself on the back so much. Of course his fragile ego needs this because he is getting his ass handed to him on a plate every night by Keith.

51. Will Mathews, Scarborough, et al now try to sound more like Olbermann?
When failure at a big-money on-air job looms, will Keith's colleagues move toward what has been successful for KO, criticizing the WH instead of shilling for it?

53. My question: Why did they hire Rita to begin with?
I have never met anyone who likes to listen to her. Honestly, she could have vocal cord damage from smoking or cancer, and that is a shame if so. However, her voice overshadows everything she says.

62. it really is a mystery...
To quote a post of mine from a while ago:
I still don't get how she has a show... on any network. She's not attractive, so it's not like she's just another empty-headed sexy blond; she's not intelligent, so there's no reason to care what her opinion is; her shows, while conservative in the "another missing white woman" sense, aren't overtly ideological, so she wouldn't have an audience of Freepers like mAnn or noted racist Malkin; and her voice is more annoying than Gilbert Gottfried's! How the hell does she have a show?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=364&topic_id=1426921

And this was before they made her a daytime anchor as well! It's like they're trying to get people to change the channel to CNN (as I did when both channels were covering the Amish school shooting; why suffer through that awful voice when the same story is on the next channel?)

I have to think that she's got pictures of the right guy doing the wrong thing. Nothing else would make sense.

MSNBC???: Awaiting 1pm Teleconference
NBCers are bracing for a company-wide teleconference at 1pm. At MSNBC, it'll be followed by a town hall meeting with Dan Abrams and Phil Griffin.

MSNBC's move to 30 Rock and Englewood Cliffs will happen sometime in the next twelve months, a high-profile insider says.

A Cliff-dweller points out that "not all the people who work" in Secaucus "will be moving" -- referring to the imminent job cuts. "This will be a bloodbath, and it will be very messy," the person adds.

But some MSNBCers -- perhaps the ones with more job security -- aren't dreading the move. After all, many staffers live in Manhattan... and they won't be commuting across the Hudson much longer...

NBC???: "News Plans To Fire 220 Staffers"
"NBC News plans to fire 220 staffers," Radar says bluntly.

"That number includes employees of the news staffs at the network's owned-and-operated local stations," John Cook adds. "Among the hardest hit areas will be MSNBC's production staff... and Dateline NBC."

63. Dan Abrams is incompetent
Good job, Dan. To completely wreck a network in only six months takes dedication, commitment, and some truly poor leadership. I do feel bad for all of the behind-the-scenes people who suddenly find themselves jobless due to Abrams' incompetence.

67. Abrams is a friend and backer of Olbermann
You actually think MSNBC was worth anything 6 months ago?

Maybe they're seeing that people want to hear the truth like KO and will push for it more with new hosts.
I'd wait and see on this before nailing Abrams to the wall.

74. Actually...
From what I've read, MSNBC is seriously considering going to all taped programing, and Olbermann may go over to CNBC. According to http://www.broadcastingcable.com/article/CA6382811.html&referral=SUPP">Boradcasting and Cable:
On the cable side, NBC U has been considering drastic measures, including scrapping all of MSNBC's live programming and switching to a taped, magazine-like format, while switching successful personalities Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann over to sibling CNBC's primetime slate.

No word as to how he'll fit into the programming over there. So, yes, MSNBC was bad before, but it may very well be dead now.

That seems weird. The early morning is when stock junkies are watching financial news to get ready for the market opening. I think Imus on TV might be kaput, personally. No great loss. I used to like the guy, but he's just a joke now.

Tucker And Rita Out At MSNBC? Jossip Hears It, Abrams Denies It
Jossip | ETP | Posted Friday October 20, 2006 at 10:09 AM

Jossip reports it this morning:

We're hearing MSNBC talking head Tucker Carlson is out the door in what's perhaps one of the biggest, though least surprising, shifts by the network. Meanwhile, FTVLive is reporting that Rita Cosby, who's already taken a backseat role after being removed from her primetime talking head gig, will also be without a home. Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, we hear, will hang on to their seven-figure deals.

When asked by ETP to confirm the report, MSNBC General Manager Dan Abrams said Abrams via email: "We have made no decisions about any possible programming changes."

We shall see what develops.

Update from Abrams: "Reports this morning about Tucker Carlson's status at MSNBC are false. Tucker is a huge talent and incredible asset to the network."

(fuckedcompany.com) which used to be highly amusing during the height of the dot com implosion era, with lots of commentary on each "fucked company" and anonymous posts from people from those companies with juicy details of CEO/founder assholery, laptop swiping, security escorts of laid off employees etc.

The site still exists but it looks like it's pretty much dead, with no one posting comments on any of the items.

He whines and whines...pretty annoying. Yesterday he went on about Big Dawg being 'needy' and always looking for attention, and 'prone to constantly telling us how his, was the greatest presidency ever in the history of the world'. :eyes:

Crikey.

Can't imagine where he'd go NOW. He's screwed at CNN and makes fun of Faux so much, I cannot believe they would actually hire him.

Cosby belongs on Inside Edition or Entertainment Tonight.

Believe it or not I find Joe S. TOLERABLE lately. Used to absolutely hate his guts, but I find somewhat different in the last few months.

As long as Keith is there...maybe they can give him TWO HOURS now...
