When we win both houses, great things will happen |
|
We will see the return of oversight and accountability, the end pay-to-play politics, the restoration of sanity to the "war on terror", the roll back the tax cuts for billionaires and big business, the return of respect for the Constitution, and the end of Bush's strangle hold on the national debate - all sped along by dozens of Democratic leaders as they strive to prove and demonstrate that the Democratic Party has always had the right ideas.

1. "Expectation" is another word for premeditated resentment. |

Anyone who thinks a single election can accomplish any significant rollback of the abominable damage done over the last 25 years, not the least of which had been don in the last 6 years, is not emotionally equipped to sustain an effort over the next ten years ... which will still not be enough even under the best of foreseeable conditions.

3. I don't know if great things will happen but I do know it'll be better |

than what we have now. We've hit rock bottom with republicans running everything that the only thing we can do is go uphill from now.
But just the concept of giving John Conyers and Henry Waxman committee chairs - it'll make it all worth it!

4. I wish I could wholeheartedly agree, but... |

30 "new faces" in a body of 435 is a drop in the bucket, and 7 or 8 in a body of 100 is not that significant..
and
bush will still be in power :grr:
watch for those veto pens..
Our only real hope is that if we can get the house, there WILL be investigations.
Even though there are 2 years between campaigns, we all know they are perpetually campaigning, so the "go-along-to-get-along" mentality creeps in pretty quickly..
I have every finger crossed, but I will be really surprised if there's a huge change coming.
If we can manage to hold their feet to the fire and root out MORE scandals (while making sure that WE don;t have our own), perhaps '08 will seal the deal.
